Republican candidates say Dems likely to win in 2008. Do you agree?
Several republican candidates for President (Guliani, McCain), have said that 2008 is likely to end up a Democratic win.
Also, considering that America has never voted for the same party when the incumbent president has an approval under 45% in the following election..
Can we say thank God that the neoconservative movement running the White House will soon be over?
( "Let's face it," said Rudy Giuliani. "Whoever gets the Republican nod this time hasn't got a snowflake's chance in hell of winning the presidency."
"Ditto," said Sen. John McCain. "2012 is looking better and better all the time.")

Most likely, Bush did a bang up job of destroying the Republican support base.

Overwhelmingly? if you look at the first poll, the numbers are not that far off, 1%-4%. that is in no sense of the word "Overwhelming". The second poll shows an interesting degree of separation but the numbers are not to wide. In the third the republicans have some advantage but the over all separation is again minimal for both sides. Actually from what I see the best candidates would be Giuliani. And maybe Fred Thompson if he went head to head with Clinton, although I am sure he would do better thent the polls sugest with Obama. Also consider the fact we are still a year and a half from the actual election, everything will change. some candidates will improve others will fall behind. who those candidates will be is still up in the air. So you can crow about a poll taken nearly 17 months BEFORE an election, but anyone who has been paying attention to politics knows that the game is far from over and is holding off any real bets for a little while longer.

Well, I agree whole heartedly. Bush and his peeps have pretty much tanked the GOP. That was evident last year when the Dems took back control of Congress. Clinton is most likely headed back to the White House, this time as President. McCain is a Bush understudy, and Giuliani will have a tough time being a Pro-Choice Republican in the white right winged south.

That could depend upon who arises as a third party candidate and what side of the political spectrum they are from. A liberal with the kind of money and name recognition Ross Perot had in '92 could throw the election to The GOP.
Also keep an eye on http://www.unity08.com/ . They have people with name recognition and a fan base who are ready to get behind a bipartisan ticket. If they can find a prominent Democrat and Republican willing to run together, there is no telling which party it would hurt more.
One of my favorite independents, Joe Schriner ( http://www.voteforjoe.com/ ) apparently has no chance of making much of a difference, but if Ron Paul can be persuaded to accept a third party nomination, he could hurt either party. His anti war and anti capital punishment positions would take votes from Democrats, and his prolife position would take votes from Republicans.
Conventional wisdom would favor the Democrats, but don't rule out a wild card that could change everything.
Maybe it is time (way past time as a matter of fact) that run off elections were instituted.

No question, all you have to do is look across the table at who the dem's would possible face in 08. Rudy? HAHAHAHAHA! Mitt? HAHAHA I mean really, the republican's have nobody that can win period. People are sick of fear mongering, picking fight's with other countries and being lied to all the time. Most american's will agree it is time for a change in direction in our government and it all start's by rooting out the rich and big business. I don't know if that could ever be accomplished but it sure would be nice! The only republican that I think could win would be Ron Paul and to be honest I like him more than any dem running. This election in 2008 will be one of the most important election's of this country's young life. I hope the right man for the job is elected. (Just not the drag queen, skirt chasing Rudy!) TY GG :p

They are more honest than their Republican constituents apparently. They are also completely correct.
Here are some other quotes I found from Republicans concerning Hillary Clinton in particular:
"I have no doubt that Senator Clinton would make a good President." - Senator John McCain
"I think she could win every state John Kerry won. And she'd probably be a better candidate in the swing states." - Senator Lindsey Graham
"She projects strength and the capacity to run the country, to pick smart people, to know when to compromise...I don't see any of our guys who could beat her - at least not today."

If Bush,Cheney and Condi get the plan to cause a National Security emergency and WW3 started, there won't BE an election in 2008.
I expect the announcement of these( and martial law too)to occur sometime between now and next Summer sometime(in time for the conventions).
Think not? Just look at the Bush controlled media news every day.

If those quotes are real, that would be a perfect example as to why Rudy and McCain are both going to lose in the primaries. I believe the republicans have a good chance of winning especially if the dem nominee is Hill/Billy.

Unlike McCain and the Dem's... the Conservatives are not ready to give up on this country.
But, if that makes you feel better.... good for you!
BTW... you don't back up your source... I am to believe they said this and in that context?
Here is a link to the story:

What you fail to point out is that it is a peice across the board on the 2012 elections... where Hillary, Obama, Kucinich and Edwards are also leaving the door open to that... Does that mean they feel they are going to lose as well?
Rudy and McCain especially know they are out of step with the Republican base.
Good try though!

Ron Paul could win easily!
The people actually support him (from Republicans and Democrats)
Why? Because he is for America and he follows the Constitution (which belongs to both parties!)
