My PS2 is broken?
My Playstation 2 will not load CDs at all and gives the "Cannot Read Disk" error. I've tried dusting my PS2 and I cannot clean the lens without taking it apart. Would that be the only way? If so, how do I *safely* take apart my PS2?
For those of you who suggested it, lens cleaning CDs cannot be read and thusly won't spin; the memory card is perfectly fine; it's not the CDs that are the problem, it's the PS2. I've cleaned and tried multiple CDs with no effect.

Chances are your laser just needs to be a.) cleaned and b.) adjusted.
I have had this happen on every PS2 I've ever owned, and this website from G4 Tech TV has fixed it every single time.
If your PS2 is past your warrenty, it is much cheaper to buy a new one than to send it out to have them repair it, in the case that you break it or don't want to risk it.
Try this: it is very easy and chances are, it will work like a charm:

EDIT: Seriously. Try this before you junk it or spend way too much for a tech to repair it. I am not literate in repairs, and this was a BREEZE.

Either you can take your PS2 to a game store or any place that you know of that repairs game systems. Or you can risk eternal damage to your PS2 by trying to fix it yourself.

your ps2's laser that it uses to read the disk is probably worn out. Most are getting that way now. Your best bet would be to replace the laser or get a ps3, but both are VERY expesive.

Its Broken! My gamecube did the same exact thing! tried taking it apart. It doesn't work. Also, if you put a used or damaged memory card in it, it's definatley infected and broken.

First, u should try a cleaning cd. They have brushes on the bottom and will clean off the eye. If that doesnt work, the eye probably burnt out, and will have to be replaced professionaly.

Clean the disk or get an xbox 360, which is much better.
