When a recruiter for Kellog, Brown, & Root tells that they have to obtain a rehire status for you.?

When you ahve already worked for KBR and you are trying to get rehired, why does the recruitrer have to check your rehire status in-country before they can confirm a date for you to potentially be rehired back on to the company?

Update:

How long is the rehire status for KBR emplyment supposed to take generally?

From what I understand, they check to see the circumstances involved for your leaving the job. One friend discovered that his supervisor recommended him for a non rehire status which contradicted what he had been told and has not been able to get back on board. Another guy I know was rehired to a lesser position after leaving his previous position. Depending on the demand of your skills and if they haven't found a foreign national to do the job for less wages, then it shouldn't take too long, however, if you have worked here before, you know well how knowing or being related to someone sure improves the process delays.
