TV/ Movie rating - what happened if someone below the recommended age is"caught" watching the show/ movie?

Is it just a recommended practice or is it enforced by law? Also, it seems doesn't matter if the actors/ actresses in the show is below the "legal" age? For example, Shay and Jared in the L Word? Or, the little girl in Exorcist? She is not allowed to enter the cinema on its premier screening?

Anybody any idea?

Usually, they'll just be kicked out of the theater, legal action is usually not taken. Legal action may be taken against a movie theater that consistently and knowingly allows minors into R-rated movies.

I work at a movie theater and one day, our manager was helping to sell tickets. He sold a few tickets to a mother for Knocked Up, he made sure that, if any minors were seeing the movie, she would be with them. He watched the woman walk out to her car, give the tickets to her kids, then drive off. He had to run after the kids and refused them admission into the movie. They had to switch their tickets for another movie.

anybody can see any film with parental consent, for underaged actors such as the girl from the exorcist, her legal gaurdian has to sign an agreement for that child to act in a film with an inappropriate rating therefore that covers the premier as well. Its not enforced legally it is just to prevent conflicts with parents. so if a 10 year old child tries to rent a rated r film they person behind the counter will deny the rental because they do not know the rules to which the child must abide. that should sum it up for you.

the ratings are just a warning that the content of the movie might not be suitable for people under a certain age. it is the discretion of the cinemas if the rating requires viewers to be id thats why movies are prescreened before they are showed to the public. as for TV shows it is the parents who hve to decide what shows they would let their kids watch. as for movie ratings i have seen just as much in PG rated movies than there have been in most R rated movies.

It is not a criminal offense. It is enforced by the movie theatre people only. The underage person would just be asked to leave the movie and be offered to watch an appropriate rated movie instead. If they refuse, then that's another offense that is criminal (trespassing).

No the under aged actors are not allowed to watch their own movies if the rating is not appropriate. If someone is caught watching he probable be asked to just leave, but if an adult was with him that adult might be liable.

Sure you can take your kids to a r rated or even an nc17 movie if you want to.

I know my dad took us to PG 13 movies when I was 11 and my brothers were even younger

Plus I know that people take their babies to R rated movies all the time

As far as I know it's illegal. The people who get in trouble are the theatre employees and the owner though.

It is only a recommendation.Any way if it was against the law billions of people would be in jail
