Punching bag logistics?
I live on the second floor of a two-story apartment. I would love to get a punching bag, but am worried that it will make too much noise for the people downstairs. This is a long shot, but has anyone here dealt with this issue before? Any suggestions as to a good model I can get? I don't want to get penalized for messing with the apartment so I don't think I can mount one into the ceiling.
Thanks for the ideas so far.

The type of sound you will be dealing with is structural sound, not air born sound. This means the noise will travel through the structure of the building rather than through the air. You will need to dampen the shock you instill into your apartment building.
First, I would highly reccommend a water bladder punching bag. Not only will that significantly dampen the noise of the bag but the feel of a water badder bag is closer to that of hitting a person. In addition, you will definately have to hang it from a spring.
The best way for you to further dampen the sound is to build a large tripod to hang your bag from. Where ever the tripod touchs your building, you will need to put something to dampen the noise like folded towels or a gymnastics mat type of material.
Hope that helped...

If you're an adult male, more than likely you'll be too strong for any of the options above - either you'll make racket or won't experience full benefits.
I'd say,
A: Talk to your employer about putting one up in a storage or empty area.
B: Try to work some bagtime out with a local boxing gym, which will be a great place to meet sparring partners anyway.
C: Do like the main character in the 1992 'Gladiator' boxing movie did in his apartment and tape a rolled sleeper mattress in the shape of a cylinder and use that to silence your heavy blows.

You might try a "head ache" bag a small bag attached with bungee cord to a weight on the floor and a beam in the ceiling or you can use one of those new heavy bag stands. With the stand you should be in good shape, with the weight on the floor you would still have to use restraint. I think that you are out of luck with a heavy bag or speed bag. There are opponent bags like slam man or BOB you could use them if no one was home down stairs.

I think you're going to have a noise problem no matter how you mount it, unless you never hit it, then it won't be a problem at all.
Someone needs to invent a trailer hitch attachment, where you can attach a support to the trailer hitch and hang the bag on it. Bet there'd be a market for that! Just remember to remove the bag before you go driving around. :)

like everyone else has said, no matter what your going to make noise. to best thing would probably be to get something that sits on the floor, and put some type of foam mat underneath it. you may need to double, or tripple up the padding. i'd make the entire workout area with this padding, they sell interlocking foam pads, search the web for "tkd interlocking fitness mats" and you see what i mean. these are great to work out on plus they give an insulation barrier between the bag and the floor to absorb any shocks. also, try to use it when the neighbors downstairs arent home and then nobody should care

Try Century's wavemaster or any freestanding bag.

The actual impact will make noise, but the noise shouldn't carry too much in the base. (Meaning no disturbing the downstairs people).
Great for when you can't hang a bag, the Wavemasters are nice they use water in the base and that disperses much of the force and absorbs much of the sound. The only noise should be the actual impact of you hitting the bag, which in itself can be loud. But it won't thud or reverberate throught the floor.
Good luck, hope that helps.

number one you should have called and asked me i could have told you. one i use to live in an apartment and two i use to sell punching bags. the best way to do it is to get a stand for them. that way it sits on the ground and it dont move. then you can get any size you want. the only thing will make noise is you jumping up and down on the floor while your hitting it. and never mount one anywhere unless you can see the beam. like in a garage or on a back porch. but yes you can have one just be careful how you move around on the floor.

Dude, the problem is, four channel amp is not a good sub amp choice. Their internals are not as "beefy" and this is why you see so many people with blown four channel amps from running subs. Im not saying MTX is a bad brand, but buying a four channel amp for subs is a total newb move. The kicker will power them better, it will be louder/harder. Stick that 4 channel amp on your interior speakers and you will thank me, haha. If you can get a kicker 1000.1 for 150, GRAB IT UP! Thats cheap wattage man.
