How to get rid of my illness?

I think I just got somewhat over strep throat (fever, swollen glands) and now I feel like I'm getting a head cold complete with sinus congestion and general fatigue. I've been drinking my fluids, getting lots of rest and used antibiotics for the throat. Can I treat a viral infection and a bacterial infection at the same time? Or will one dominate the other?

Here's the best thing I've found - you're never going to believe it, but it works better than any meds I've found.

Buy the lowest dose of vitamin c you can get. Take a pill every hour (ignore the directions) until your symptoms go away. Within 5 or 6 hours you'll probably forget to take the vitamin c because you're not feeling so sick.

You can also try a saline spray for your nose if you're having problems there. Buy baking soda & peroxide toothpaste. The peroxide kills the germs in your mouth.

Seriously though, vitamin c is the key. I was going on vacation & had a cold for over a week that just wouldn't go away. I started taking the vitamin c the night before my trip & was feeling fine the next morning.

A virus can not be treated with antibiotics, it just has to run its course. If you have a bacterial infection too, antibiotics would help to get rid of that, just not the viral infection. I know it sucks to have to wait it out but the doctors can't do anything for it. Somethimes they will give you antibiotics anyways, but that is why so many people are forming allergies to antibiotics and some bacteria is even becoming immune to certain ones, so they will no longer work against that bacteria.

    I hope you feel better!

Dr. Kat - sounds like you're on the way back...get some 'airborne' and take it round the clock, it works! drink lots of fluids to flush out your body..water or tea or gatorade, & continue to rest, if you can. good girl.

hope you feel better soon! signed, real dr. forever ♥
