Generally not. The only way you can is if that particular model is not only required by the school, but you have to buy it FROM THE SCHOOL (not even the school bookstore) as a condition of registering for or attending the class. In those cases, if they exist, the cost would probably be included in your course fees.

Only if it's required by the course curriculum (as opposed to being a general requrement) AND the school requires you to purchase it at the school's own bookstore. Most states have laws that forbid schools from requiring purchases from the school's bookstore so it's highly unlikely that it would be deductible.

You may only use such an expense as a deduction if the laptop was required by the school involved as part of the curriculum.
