I will be doing a series of these questions over the next week for you to reply on every pick in the first round, starting with this one: the number one pick. Each day, a different team will be on the clock.
The player will be selected based on the number of votes, the best answer will given to the person who has the best explanation/reason for the pick.
Now it's your turn to select the next pick...
Here is a list of possible players going at this pick:
Tiago Splitter
Ante Tomic
Aaron Afflalo
Morris Almond
Marco Belinelli
Rudy Fernández
Gabe Pruitt
Alando Tucker
Rodney Stuckey
Jared Dudley
Aaron Gray
Kyle Visser
Marc Gasol
Glen Davis
Sean Williams
Notice that with their first pick (#12) they already took Jeff Green.

Tiago Splitter
He's worth a flyer even with his contract issues. Rumor has it a buyout is $500k or so, so he might be able to get out of his contract with his current team.
Anywho, Sixers need better big men. They're set at the guard positions and got Green earlier in the draft...Dalembert is fine, but they could definitely use an upgrade over steven hunter. Splitter's got the size and athleticism to get his own shot and be a pretty good rebounder. He's been trying to get into the nba draft for a few years now so he's got plenty of experience and should be able to come in challenge hunter for a starting spot.
He's got the talent to go earlier, and i think he's slipping a little because of his contract issues.

I have a huge disagreement with most of the picks prior, but if I had to select one player for the 76ers to take based on what was remaining it would most likely be Aaron Gray. He played college ball in the state of Pennsylvania and he's pretty much an NBA-ready big man. I expect the 76ers to trade at least one of their three first round picks, along with Phoenix doing the same.

The Sixers need an athletic big man.
The back court is solid.
Green is a good pickup, but doesn't address someone that can play the 4 and the 5 in a small lineup while Dalembert rests. I think Splitter is that guy. He's strong, physical and very athletic for a big man. Splitter isn't where you'd like him to be offensively for this team, but you can't deny the defensive presence that Splitter and Dalembert would impose on the Eastern Conf teams.
Miller
Iguodala
Green
Splitter
Dalembert
is a playoff team not in 07-08 but in 08-09.
Remember that defense wins championships.
Splitter won't be available until next year. Hunter will have to suffice for now. In the meantime, this team needs to stockpile scorers off the bench., you don't want to have to rely on Miller to score more than his 10-13 points per game.

I say Aaron Afflalo
Willie Green is injured all the time and Igoudala is more of a SF than a SG who can light it up from all over the place...which is exactly what afflalo is
With playmakers surrounding him such as AI2 and Miller, Afflalo will be able to score the basket easily.
He just puts the ball in the hole...just finds a way through jumpers or drives or slashes or cuts. He's a very creative scorer.
The Sixers would be wise to pick to him up
When they play against carter, wade, kidd, pierce and lebron in the east, AI 2 will be covering those guys but his offense wuold take a hit with him expending so much energy on defense
To relieve pressure off of him Afflalo can be a valuable asset there to score when Igoudala doesn't have it going.
So this is what the lineup should look like (pretty explosive in my opinion filled with athletic finishers, shooters and solid rebounders)
C Dalembert
PF Green
SF Igoudala
SG Afflalo
PG Miller

With jeff green they adressed their versatility problem at the post so it would help them to pick a good experienced guard here. The best pick would be Alando Tucker because he would be able to play right alongside Igodala and be a good compliment to this team. He is a slasher guard who can also rebound well and get to the line plenty of times. He needs to add bulk to play at SF but what the 76ers might do is move tucker to play more of a SG and Igodala would run the wing. He does a little bit of everything well for a guard and he is a seasoned college player so he can step right in and help this 76ers team make a good push to the playoffs.

Aaron Afflalo, the need a point guard to compliment with Andre Iguadula. Alando Tucker is probably the best player available according to your mock draft. Sometimes it is about taking the best player available, but I think the need outweighs that. They need a point to replace Iverson's departure last year.

rodney stuckney is a amazing guard who has not been noticed b/c he is not on a good team. sort of like kevin garnett. anyway, he average 24 points per game and 5 assists. the 76ers have a solid lineup everywhere, but they should NOT trade the pick away. since rodney stuckney is the best player on the players picked and makes sense to pick him, im going for him. he could also play sixth man(if you need him to)
- what?Lv 71 decade ago
with green they solved the SF issue. they have a good pg and sg in miller and iguadala so they need better bigs. so they draft the best available. splitter.
- Anonymous1 decade ago
No one. None of these players will make an impact in the league. They should trade it away.

they should take my boy aaron afflalo he would be good
