How over-hyped are the 49ers?

There is no doubt that Clements is not worth $80 mil. The only DB who is worth that is Champ. But, he does, along with their draft choices, vastly improve their defense. Bruce is old (I hate to break it to you), and I believe he can cover Holt, Branch (I still have no idea why people think Branch is any good).

Jackson is great, no doubt, but Gore is just as good.

With Davis and a revamped WR corps, Smith looks to improve. The Defense is better, and so is the offense.

The Ram's offense will be good, but (like always) their defense will lose them games.

The Seahawks are not as good as they were. Losing Hutch to MIN hurt them a lot, in running and in pass protection.

The 49ers had one of the best drafts, and one of the best FA periods. That is why they are hyped.

The 49ers are way overhyped! On paper they look good. So did the Panthers last year. Well they didn't even make the playoffs. Just like the 49ers this year. 6-10 and no playoffs. The 49ers overpaid for Clements. No one is worth $80 million unless they are a quarterback. Tom "I Got 3 SB Rings" Brady has a $67 million dollar contract. Tully Banta Cain was a LB that gave up the big plays in the loss to the Colts last AFC Championship game. Darrell "I Drop The Ball" "I Can't Stay On The Field" Jackson and Ashlie "Bust" Lelie are no upgrades at WR. Expect more of the same old 49ers. You know the ones that had the first overall pick or a top ten.

Plus the Seattle Seahawks are gonna pound the competition into submission this year. FOURTH STRAIGHT NFC West Division title. Go Seahawks!!! 12th Man Beyotch!!!

Are you kidding me? They are finally getting some hype. ANd that has to do with the growth they have achieved over the last 3 years. Alex Smith is developing along nicely and this is the year he should totally break out. And Frank Gore is phenomenal. Pretty damn impressive last year for a second year back to be right with LJ and LT, two of the premium backs in the league. They have drafted alot of young, hi-character players and had by far one of the best offseasons.

Also You do realize that Nate Clemens was the most sought after defensive guy in free agency. And like other contracts he will never see all that money. The money is in the upfront money. ITs nice to see the niners spending money instead of all the years that they didn't go out and get talent..........

Ahh a rams fan. Well since they have tissue paper for a d line gore will just pound right through them every time. And dont give me this carrkier business because he is going to be a flat bust. Remember the niners went 7-9 last year with the WORST talent in the division. Now that they have some respectable people at key positions well.. playoffs are iminent. Niners have what no one else in the division has: heart.

what makes them think they can beat the seahags??? maybe the fact that they swept them last year.

they are the sleeper team for the NFC west my friend. i'm not a frisco fan, not even by a long shot. but they have seattles number and alex smith should have his coming out party this year.

Do you also walk around with a sign on your forehead advertising your lack of knowledge about football?? If you think that Clements can't cover than you should go watch pop Warner football, because you don't have a clue.........

ok yes the 49ers are overhyped so what , the NFC west sucks, who wants to waste their time watching the likes of the 9ers, rams, seahawks, cardinals.

49ers are not over hyped they will probably end in 1st in the NFC West.

The only "hype" I've heard about them have come from 49's fans on here.
