Which is better overall xbox 360 or ps3?

Well i'm a salesman at P.C. Richard's and Sons in the small home electronics department so i know a thing or two on the subject. To answer your question you have to ask yourself a couple questions.

1) Do you have a 1080p television?

1080p is considered "Full Hi-Def" TV. Hi-Def as most people know it (the way it is transmitted on cable and on HD-DVD's) is a 1080i. Most Hi-Def TV's are 1080i, but if you are lucky enough to have a 1080p television then that one check in the PS3 side. The PS3 not only plays a lot of its games in that resolution, but it plays "Bluray" movies. Bluray movies are four layer discs (most discs are two layers) that have movies in 1080p. They honestly will the next major form of home media that replace the DVD the way thet DVD replaced tapes. The moves are already available at most major movie retails and rentable at places like blockbuster or online at nexflix. If you only have a 1080i or less i would say go for the XBOX360. There is no point in spending an extra $200 for visual quality that you wont be able to obtain. (if you do decide to go PS3 and have the 1080p TV. Be sure to pick up an HDMI cable to replace the RCA cables it comes with, its a lot simpler, less cluter and you will get the full resolution out of it.

2) What kind of games do you play?

Because of the general image that botho complanies like to matain about their products, over the years they have both respectively split thebig design houses in half. If you are arecreational player who DOES NOT spent more than 21 hours a week then the PS3 is defenitly up your ally. With many titles on the way and a great number to choose from already, they then to have the more entertaining for the moment type games. (first person shooters, sports games and minor RPG's) But if you area hardcore games and really likes to get into his games, then i would say that XBOX has really got more games for longevity.

So really the playing feild is quite even, its really only a matter of what kind of equiptment you already have, what you are willing to spend, what you are looking for out of your system and how serious of a gamer you are.

Well, it depends on what you want...if you have alot of ps1 and ps2 games and play them alot...and you can take full advantage of the PS3's graphics and memory...I advise PS3...

If you don't have the games from the old consoles...I strongly suggest the 360...mainly because if you are going for (just the ps3 vs 360 games) good games...360 beats PS3 and will for at least another year. So get a 360, get a few good games, play it for a year...by then the PS3 will have the games to back it's gear...and may be cheaper...and snag one of them then...

That's my advice...but, it's your money...

i hate it when people just respond "PS3" or "360. with no intension of explaining why!!! in MY opinion the 360 is better,has etter graphics,BETTER GAMES THAN THE PS3,AND XBOX LIVE IS BETTER THAN PS3 ONLINE.sure ps3 gives online for free...but the only game thats worthwhile playing is resistance fall of man..BIG WHOOP.and xbox live gold is only 5.00 per month..or around 65.00 for the whole year.ITS NOT SO FREAKING EXPENSIVE.I RATHER PAY XBOX LIVE ONLINE FOR $65 BUCKS WITH GREAT GAMES,THEN PLAY 1 GAME ONLINE FOR FREE.and yes the 360 has internal heating problems im not going to lie..but as long as you have it in an open space and you buy the fan for it youll be fine.and buy THE USB FAN NOT THE INTERCOOLER.THE INTERCOOLER MELTS INTO THE BACK OF THE 360 BECAUSE OF THE PLASTIC IN IT.THE USB DOES NOT.hope this helps and remember..IT IS YOUR CHOICE WHETHER TO BUY THE 360 OR PS3!!!

well for now the 360 is much better it gots all the games ... gears of war, crackdown is aight, and not to mention halo 3 is coming soon... while the PS3 got the graphics but have about only 1 good game "resistance fall of man"... my choice ... i chose the 360... nothing good for the PS3 until METAL GEAR 4 comes out.. go with the 360...
