it might be, but it could have a lot to do with life events like puberty and pregnancies can cause changes in hair's texture and color. I think your's is damaged you should get a leave in conditioner and put it on right before bed, then wrap your hair up in a bandana and sleep like that, it will help your hair become more healthy (sounds like you heat style it a lot) and get your ends trimmed every 6 weeks!

Hair texture is determined by the follicles of the hair. If your hair doesn't look like it used to, it's damaged. It will take some time to grow out healthy hair so don't mess with it for a while.

first off. STOP USING IRONS AND BLOW DRYERS
they damage your hair soo much
go to a salon and have them fix your split ends (yes even if it means your hair would have to be cut VERY short-sorry but if u dont, then it would just make the situation of your hair much worse)

Yes, you have chemically altered your hair by "frying" it with color. Try a deep conditioning treatment once a week to get it back in shape. Also, make sure to get a trim every six weeks to get rid of existing split ends and prevent new ones! Good luck.
