He has a chance at a championship without Jeff Gordon as his mentor. He is still very much in the running to make the chase this year. Once you're in anything can happen. He's finished 3rd before and knows how to drive a car without Gordon's input. Once he has all the resources available to him at HMS he should be more successful. All the teammates there will be good for each other and Jimmie, Jeff and Casey might even get some helpful tips from Jr on occasion.

Jr's going to HMS will improve his chances of a championship but I hope his fans don't get disappointed if he doesn't. I have a lot of respect for Jr and I wish him well. Jeff will not be his mentor, Jr has been around the track a few times and may be given advice from Jimmie and/or Jeff.

Jeff has tutored him quite a bit since Sr been gone. Jeff will help him deal with media and stuff like that. As far as driving , with the hendrick equipment , Jimmie Johnson might be a little more help. Jimme and Jr have a more compatable driving style. We have already found that Jimmie and Jeff cant use many of the same setup because their driving style are very different. Jeff is very smooth and very deliberate. Jimmie is balls to the wall , drive in deep and pedal out hard. Thats more JRs style.

Junior has been in NASCAR a while now, so I think any mentoring role Jeff will have with Junior will be minimal. I think what Junior needs at this point of his career is Teammates who will encourage him and support him.

Jeff and Junior are already good friends and have a great deal of respect for one another. With Jeff's encouragement I believe Junior will take his career to the next level and possibly hoist the Nextel Cup (or whatever Cup it will be called when he hoists it. )

ok rockpaq, seem at those numbers and tell me that their no longer able to triumphing a cup. W:sixteen P: 6 T5:seventy 9 T10:142 DNF:31 Avg end: 14.9 if that isn't able to triumphing a cup, then Matt Kenseth could'nt have gained one then. W:17 P:11 T5:fifty six T10:a hundred and five DNF:31 Avg end:18.2 however neither could've Kurt Busch. BTW this Jr's occupation W:17 P:7 T5:seventy six T10:121 DNF: 40-one Avg end:sixteen.9
