Can you anger cancer?

I was wondering.... I have heard that if someone has cancer and the doctors do surgery the cancer comes back ~ faster and meaner. Do you think that the oxygen "agitates" it? I have a couple of lumps on my elbows, in between the 2 bones and I am petrified. The doctor wants to do a biopsy, but I think it will make it worse. Any thoughts?

Well, let's look at what cancer does. Cancer is characterized by white cells (the disease fighters) getting confused in growing and mutating. If you make a cut near the cancer, then you are actually requiring more white cells to grow to fix that incision. When you are making more white cells, you are increasing the chance that more of those cells will mutate into that cancer or worse into a metasticized cancer (spreading). If the doctors really knew what caused cancer, they would have a cure for it already and they don't. They just treat the symptoms. However, when you study the mechanics of disease, you look at what is happening to the cells and you become more interested in "stem cell research" because you want to know what causes a cell to differentiate and mutate. If you can stop the mutation, you can stop the cancer. See if the doctor can do a blood test and analyze your blood for cancer cells first. Otherwise, you have to decide whether or not you want answers and if you get the answers, what are you willing to do? If you won't have surgery, then there is no need to have a biopsy. If the lumps on your elbows are not painful and if they don't interfere with your movement or your life, then maybe letting them alone might be okay. I'd probably have the doctor give me a vial with some of the cells and the biopsy material so I could take it to a lab and study the cells myself. Also, I would find a good teaching college and get a researcher to work with me to study the cells and see if I couldn't find a fix whether they are cancerous or just goofed up cells. Good luck.

My husband had cancer 14 years ago, lumps on his chest, they where removed and they never came back.

About 4 months ago he found a sore on his ear and had it check - they removed half the ear due to cancer - he has beat it again.

Of cause it will come back but if they catch it soon enough and they do surgery on it - it may not come back for years. Let if go and you could lose your arm. And then it will have a chance to spread to other parts of your body.

No oxygen does not agitate it.

Being out in the Sun will.

If they do not get it all when they go to remove it it will spread faster. If you have a stupid doctor that gives you steriods that will feed the cancer. My father died of colon cancer 7 years when I was 14.

A biopsy isn't going to make it worse it is just going to check if you do or don't have cancer. It isn't oxygen that agitates it, it is the fact of trying to remove it and not getting it all that makes it travel.

If you have lumps that concern you, have them completely removed and that will be the end of it. If clear margins are obtained around whatever it is that's on your skin then that's pretty much the end of it.

As for the previous person who commented that massage after chemo can aggravate cancer, that is absolutely false. If anything, massage aids in relaxation and promotes healing - and BTW was highly recommended by my own oncologist.

The only way I know of to anger cancer is by having a body massage after chemo, which circulates the cancer cells. Apart from that, I can't see how you could anger it really. Hope this gets sorted for you :-)
