Keep your flipflops away from the dog, offer lots of appropriate chew toys, and enlist your sisters and friends in stopping the activity before it starts.

When your dog starts to chew (I'm assuming playfully) on your sisters or friend, they should tell her "no" and walk away -- don't reward the dog for bad behavior by continuing to play.

Git him a chew toy. One of those you stick the treat inside and they have to get it out or the one where its a ring and they chew it. Dont get them anything that looks anything like what he may register as a flipflop. that wiuld be a huge mistake because he might think that he can chew your stuff. Now, this may just be an answer to his question. He may be like "Hmmm no toys? Oh look flipflops!" a few more chew toys... round two or three and give him a treat when he chews them instead of your flipflop.

It sounds really stupid, but put them away. I had a labrador, that from the time I got him at 8 weeks old to the time he died at 12, he loved to chew my shoes. I tried every deterrant to no avail. My closed closet was the only safe place. Besides, puppies are chewers and are not doing it to aggravate you, so anything that you absolutely do not want chewed, remove. Best solution for everyone, you and the dog.

The Bitter Apple solution always helps. Spray it on areas that you don't want your dog to chew, and the puppy will stay away. As for friends, whenever the dog shows its teeth, pull out the bitter apple and shake it. The dog will run if you've sprayed it in its mouth a few times.

Although this usually works, you may want to take your dog to a trainer if it doesn't.

    Best of luck!

  • When she goes to bed, grab a flip flop that you don't use anymore. Put tabasco sauce on in, and lay it down next to where she sleeps. If she starts to chew on it, she'll taste the tabasco sauce instead and wont want to chew it anymore. Try for about a week, every night. She'll find out that by chewing on a flip-flop she gets a hot sensation in her mouth and wont want to chew on them anymore.

Did this with my dog when she was chewing on the drip lines. It worked!!

For some reason dogs love flip flops an easy solution is to keep them where the dog can not reach them. Otherwise you can try scolding the dog and giving it a rawhyde to chew on.

You don't - you simply place anything chewable out of her reach and provide her with safe chewie toys that she can chew on

Puppies chew, it is part of their development, just make sure that what she chews is safe and appropriate for her.

If she does get something accidently that she shouldn't have, take one of her chewies and trade it for that item.

If you have such a stubborn chewer that she eats furniture you can't move (had one chew the corner off a sideboard - twice), there is something called bitter apple you can brush on, it's harmless, just tastes bad.

Give that puppie plenty of toys and chewies - she will eventually outgrow the chewing behavior, but it is certainly normal for her now.

You have to keep your shoes off the floor!!!

I have a 4 month old lab puppy. She will pick up shoes every times she sees one!!

They are puppies that is what they do!!!! Your puppy may stil be teething!! Give your puppy ice cubes to chew on. It's gums may be sore and swollen. The ice will help with the swelling and the pain!!!

Your puppy will grow out of this stage one day!!!

Keep your flip flops in the closet and close the door. if you catch him/her in the act grab the scruff of his neck and say NO in a firm voice. Let me tell you you will have to do this a few times but after a while it will get the hint! This is what mommy did.

Well you can tell him NO everytime he goes to chew on them and he may learn or he may just be sneeky like my dog and do it anyway , so your best bet would be to put them away so he can't get them :)
