Help please..?
My friend was wondering what can he use for his dog if he has sore gums. Can he use the same stuff as humans? He has no money for the Vet...but is there a remedy anyone has tried and worked? Thank you.

Does he have sore gums because he is teething?
If so: Yes, ice cubes are a great option! You can also soak wash clothes, roll them up, and freeze them! This allows the dog to chew/suck on them, thus relieving the gums.
I would highly recommend that you do NOT use any human medications (not even asprin) without the advisement of your vet. You could do a lot more harm than good! Youw ould hate to stress/damage the liver.
If your friends dog is not teething, then it is best to bring him into the vet. Usually, problems in the mouth can be pretty serious and typically indicate a secondary issue. Since money is an issue, you can contact your local humane society and inquire about low-cost clinics.
Hope this helps!

Don't give aspirin, tylenol or anyother human meds. Animals metabolize drugs a lot slower then humans do and by giving regular human doses you can OD your dog. If it is just teething you can use a tiny amount of baby orajel to put on the gums. If he is not teething the dog needs to be seen by a vet. Sore gums can be signs of a fatal infection if left untreated. Please consult a vet before ever giving human meds to your pets. Good luck

Sore, infected, or inflamed gums can be signs of other very much more serious infections and issues.
If he absolutely will not vet the animal, invest in its long term care. Only feed good quality DRY food, wet food is HORRIBLE for canine mouths. Give the animal raw beef bones from the grocery. Theyre best for chewing and best for their bodies. They get really icky after a couple days, so put them outside. NEVER boil them. Breaks them down and makes them a choking hazzard.
Dogs can have asprin in small doses. I wouldnt mess with other human medications, their kidneys simply dont function like ours.

Actually, a friend that I know is a vet, and she gives pet medications to her kids; before you think I'm crazy, hear me out; the active ingredients are the same as human medication, but just in smaller doses. I'm not saying to use any human medicine on your dog, but you could talk to a vet to see if they have any home remedies.

Baby teething medicine works great for sore gums and teething issues. You can also give baby aspirin 1-2 times a day to help soothe the pain and any swelling.
