The surge isn't really working?

Be careful how you come to your conclusions. The L.A. Times may not be the most reliable source. If you balance your view, then your conclusions should be sound.

Is the surge working? How do we really know for sure? I would guess it isn't, but all we have for material is what the media tells us, or the administration. And both have vested interests and their own agendas.

I don't think it's appropriate to pass judgment on what our troops are doing at this stage until the surge has been completed.

For God's sake, if we had a media like this in World War II we would have lost.

Don't you believe it! Your brain has been pre-conditioned to believe all the successes in Iraq don't matter. The same spirit of stupor wants to keep you from hearing of progress.

Ask a soldier who's been there.

Never before has so much been accomplished with so few lives lost.

Actually the general in charge, Petraus, has stated that the surge IS working.

And this is the same man who was confirmed by the Dems.

Last year we were killing zero terrorists, now we are killing zero terrorists, in September we'll be killing zero terrorists. Maybe Bush should dare the terrorists to tattoo "Hi. I'm a terrorist" across their foreheads. Then we'd know who to shoot.

"Surge" is just a fancy name for escalation of the war. No, it is NOT WORKING.
