Bytes, Kilobytes, Megabytes, Gigabytes, Terabytes...?

What is their conversion to each other? Where can I find it (that is if you haven't given it to me by answering this, lmao!!) I know I have them in order, from least to greatest... I'm just not entirely aware of the values of each.

Thank you for your assistance... D'oh!!!

    1 bit = a 1 or a 0

    1 BYTE = 8 BITS

    1 Kilobyte = 1024 bytes (Binary closest to 1000)

    1 Megabyte = 1024 Kilobytes = 1048576 Bytes

    1 Gigabyte = 1024 Megabytes = 1048576 Kilobytes = 1073741824 Bytes

    Do the next step youself

    Also 1 "nibble" = 4 bits or half a bytes, but not now in common use

    8 bit =1 byte

    1024 bytes = 1 kilobyte

    1024 kilobytes =1 megabytes

    1024 megabytes = 1 gigabytes

    1024 gigabytes = 1 terabytes

    1024 terabytes = 1 perabytes

    --> UNDERSTANDING GIGABYTES

    When people buy computers, they're told they're getting a hard drive of

    a certain size--80 gigabytes, perhaps. But when they check the computer

    they find only 74GB. Where did the other 6GB go?

    This is the difference between marketing and math. As far as marketers

    are concerned, 80 billion bytes is 80GB. But it's not. A gigabyte is

    1.074 billion bytes (2 to the power of 30). If you divide 80 by 1.074,

    you'll get 74.6. That's the true number of gigabytes.

    These round numbers are fairly easy to remember. A kilobyte is 2 to

    the power of 10 (or 2^10), a megabyte is 2^20, and a terabyte (1.0995

    trillion bytes!) is 2^40.

    Few people are going to fill up that so-called 80GB drive, regardless

    of the stated size. Still, I wish marketers were more honest about

    hard drive sizes. It should be easy to understand what you're

    really getting.

    Byte = 8 bits

    Kilobyte = 1000 Byte

    Megabyte =1000 Kilobytes

    Gigabyte = 1000 Kilobytes

    Terabytes = 1000 Gigabytes

    Note to be exact Megabyte =1024 Kilobytes, you calculate but they figure them by thousands .

    8 bits = 1 Byte, 1024 Byte = I Mega Byte, 1024 Mega Byte = 1 Gigabyte & 1024 GB = 1 Tera byte

    Try this:

    http://www.t1shopper.com/tools/calculate/

    * 1 byte = 8 bits

    * 1 kilobyte (K / Kb) = 2^10 bytes = 1,024 bytes

    * 1 megabyte (M / MB) = 2^20 bytes = 1,048,576 bytes

    * 1 gigabyte (G / GB) = 2^30 bytes = 1,073,741,824 bytes

    * 1 terabyte (T / TB) = 2^40 bytes = 1,099,511,627,776 bytes

    * 1 petabyte (P / PB) = 2^50 bytes = 1,125,899,906,842,624 bytes

    * 1 exabyte (E / EB) = 2^60 bytes = 1,152,921,504,606,846,976 bytes

    byte * 1024 = kilobyte * 1024 = megabyte * 1024 =

    gigabyte * 1024 = terabyte.

    for ease of use the standard in sales is x1000

    so 1000 MB is a GB and 1000 gb is a TB

    tho the actual scale is 1024 (a nicer binary value)

    so 1024 MB is a GB... ect....

    you also missed Bits, smaller then Bytes, and there are 8 Bits per byte :)

    kilobyte=1024bytes

    GB=1024MB

    TB=1024GB etc.

    Good Luck!
