Do you need to get a degree in a foreign language...?

Do you need to have an actual degree in a foreign language to be able to use it for eomployement purposes? Or will they accept you just being able to communicate it and read it well? Also what besides Spanish would you consider to be a beneficial language to learn? I want to learn Spanish and Japanese at least, but I hope it isnt too difficult now that I am older.

No, I can't think of anything apart from teaching where an actual degree would be demanded. There are plenty of people who are proficient in a foreign language through other means and who have concentrated their efforts on studying other things of practical value to the job. Your choice of language will depend on where you expect to spend the next years of your life and your personal aptitude. Besides, you don't necessarily want to study the same languages as everyone else: do something different and you may be able to land a position which other people are not qualified for.

Don't think a degree is that important. But depends on what you intend to work as. If you want to be an official interpreter, you would probably need it. But most companies don't demand it.

Easier to start with spanish I feel. Look for some of the new methods. They help in the starting part which is difficult. I found it very hard to start until I tried the Learn Spanish like Crazy. It's easy to start. Later I took the Pimsleur Course.

You've already requested this question two times within the final short while, however I wager I'll publish my reply once more. You would, might be, get a measure in classics which involves finding out Latin, (Ancient) Greek, and the cultures of the Roman Empire and Ancient Greece. You would additionally simply get a measure in Linguistics or decide on a language after which get a measure in that language and simply be taught the others and no longer always get a measure in them. So I advocate picking out one to 2 languages (or linguistics/classics) to get a measure in, after which be taught different languages you wish at the aspect. If you're going to get a role in languages and so they wish to grasp if you're fluent in the ones different languages (although you wouldn't have a measure), they are going to simply deliver you a scan to check what your ability degree is. Hope that is helping.
