Is it possible to pick a lock using 2 paper clips?

Your friend is correct on this one. It is possible to pick a lock with nothing more than two paper clips.
Keep in mind that just because something is possible does not make it easy. Picking a lock with the proper tools takes a great deal of practice. Making your own tools out of paper clips would complicate things a bit.

Yes, some locks can be picked with paper clips. The cheap "disc wafer" locks like those often used on inexpensive furniture are easy to roll with some practice.

Yes. One is bent just near the end to act as a hook and torque the cylinder and the other is used to rake the pins. But paper clips are very soft steel compared to proper thin hard steel tools and it isn't easy.

yes on most cheap locks. one paper clip rolls the pins (in-out) of keyhole, while the other lightly turns the lock
