Anyone know if a small propane tank can be used to power an above ground (18 foot round) pool heater?

Or do I need to get a bigger propane tank installed? And if that is true what would be the minimum size tank? Anyone know how much the initial install cost would be? thanks

The tank size depends on how frequently you want to fill it, as well as how much heat you need in your climate. There are portable tanks that are larger than the five gallon barbecue size. You should really talk to your propane dealer. For the convenience you may just want them to make periodic deliveries.

By the way, for maximum efficiency make sure that your pool heater is jetted for propane instead of natural gas.

You need to make sure your heater is set up for propane first. Most pool heaters are set up for natural gas only, running propane in it would be dangerous.
