Little teeny red bug looking things?
I am working outside today (God Bless wireless internet - Amen) and keep seeing these teeny tiny little red bugs....I mean they are blood red and when you squish them they leave a red mark. Anyone know what these things are?
I live in Eastern PA.
Okay - eww what is a mite and how do I get rid of them? Are they dangerous? We have no pets or anything in the yard and we have the yard treated by a professional company every couple of weeks. I think I am officially grossed out.

Most likely they are spider mites which are common plant pest in your area from late spring to mid fall. They are only worried about sucking the blood from your plants so you don't have to worry about them bugging you too much. They are bug to kill, but it's best that you get rid of them as they can take over (they are probably being kept down by those monthly sprayings) I would go and get something from yo local nursery and spray about every other day. If you have anything sensitive or edible, I would take a mild soap(like laundry detergent) water, and if you have a juicer or food processor some garlic(pulverize the garlic you really only need the juice or oil, the garlic is optional) and spray your plants everyday with this mixture.(one part soap to about 4-5 parts water)

You just deal with flying bugs you couldn't get rid of all of them no matter what kind of an exterminator you might have, its not like getting rid of ants or termites ... get a bug zapper to keep them out the area you are working in but mites don't harm you they are just annoying.
