How many clothes do you need for a baby?
My daughter is having a baby and we need to know how many clothes to have in each size. ie: 0-3 months, 3-6 months, 6-9 months, 9-12 months etc. My niece has little ones but she seems to have way to many clothes. We didn't want to many or too little. It's been so long ago I don't remember.

i personally would get half a dozen vests and grows in newborn and 0-3 then wait and see what arrives when the baby is born, i donated £100's worth to charities when i had my son because people bring so many. dont forget about the seasons too, and all children grow at different rate my son seemed to be in 9-12 forever! people give you their own childrens clothes used and new and people bring clothes as gifts, i got a suit from a woman who i had only spoken to once! people love to give to babies. i hope that helps!

It is hard to say what is too much and what is too little. If you have a baby that spits up all the time and have only 7 outfits then there is a problem. If you have a baby that never spits up and you have 21 outfits then you have too much.I would start out with 19 outfits size 0-3 months and 10 sleep clothes 0-3 months and take it from there.

I went totally overboard and bought baby clothes during my entire pregnancy. I completely regret that now, because I didn't take into consideration that I would be doing laundry so often. It's not like with adult clothes where you can wait and do laundry once a week or even longer. Baby clothes get spit-up, pee, poo, and everything else on them so you end up washing them more often just because you can't let them sit in the hamper. Long story short: 3 onesies plus 5 full outfits for each size is PLENTY!!! DO go overboard on buying bibs, though. Especially when babies start teething (5 months or so) they drool soooooo much that you end up changing bibs 4 or 5 times a day, not counting food mishaps and spit-ups.

Don't make the same mistake I did, i went out and bought a bunch of stuff, in size 0-3 months and when she was born she weighed 12 pounds, so nothing fit her. I think you should buy size 3-6 months, if a shirt is a bit big you can roll the leeves up a bit. Also don't go nuts buying stuff, I went out after my daughter was born and bought tons of stuff and I didn't even get a chance to take the tags off of the stuff and she had outgrown it (major waste of money) I'm hoping my next one is a girl so she can wear some of the stuff. Just buy 2 or 3 nice outfits to go out in and the rest sleepers, diaper shirts etc. I bought really nice things on an as needed basis, like if I knew we were going to go to a party or something, I would buy a cute dress for her.

A minimum of 5 outfits in each size is a good start. Then if the child stays in a size for an extended time or through a season change you add to it. Each child grows differently my 9mo old can technically still fit in 3-6 mo clothes, but we changed to 6mo clothes because of the season change. Keep the tags on anything the baby can't wear yet and return them or exchange them!

If you use the good bibs, the spit up won't be a problem with your outfits. The bibs need the plastic coating on the back or the spit up will seep threw and ruin the outfits. Another tip is choose the correct size diapers to prevent leaks, they grow so fast and going to the next size diaper is always forgotten about. I would use 7 outfits for each age group, if you have a washer and dryer at home. Also you can save money by going to your local children's consignments shops. Congratulations and have fun with your new baby.

It's better to have too many than not enough. You should plan to have at least enough onesies to have two or three a day for changing if they get dirty. Then there's actual outfits in case you go anywhere that day which could be one or two. And that's per size. My neice is almost 3 months old and she can go through clothes quickly. She's already wearing 3-6 months and will probably go through them quicker too.

Don't buy too much of anything, because they grow so fast u never know what size you'll need. U could buy a little of each that would help out maybe about... 3 packs of each size, that's how i did it with my second child and it helped! Sometimes u have to just wait and see how the baby grows and buy it when u need it.

I wouldnt buy newborn only becuase most dont fit them. Id get a small amount of 0-3 months, and a larger amount of 6-9 months. I wouldnt worry about 9-12 months untill he or she is around 6 or 7 months old.

I always had way to many clothes for my kids but sometimes it's better to have to many than not enough. You never know what might happen. Your washer could break and you can't go to the laundry mat so it is better to have to many clothes.
