Which is the best way to install windows?
I have gotten 2 quotes, 5k difference between each! One's framed-out and one is framed-in. I currently have wooden windows, these quotes are PVC 4.8 R factor.
I wouldn't mind saving the $5k and the sales guy says there's no diff. except I'd have to paint trim inside. Which I can do.
?? Help?? Merci.

get vinyl replacement windows....screw in from the side.....new trim on inside and paint......single hung, bottom only opens......double hung, top and bottom opens....30% more for the doubles......a good window...installed ..material and labor, about $ 225.00 per unit.

What I would need to know is this:
What is the outside of the house?
Frame out mean the pull the siding if you have it - pop the window and install the new one with the edging frame outside. When you drive by a construction site the put up the plywood outside then put in the windows then install the siding over the edge of the windows. This adds labor costs to pull the siding and re-install it.
If you have brick it is a little different.
Frame in they pop out the window and lay a new frame from the inside of the room. Does not mess with the siding but will it look right.
Verify their terminology to confirm what they really mean, in case it is just sales talk.
I would pay to have the entire frame pulled and replaced, you never know what problems are under old framing and you do not want to cover it over to haunt you later.

OK so the ads in the paper says $189 each window installed. so count the number of windows in your home and then multiply by $189 each and that is cost. For the one hundred and eighty nine (189) dollars per window, you get fixed upper and tilt out lower. So if you want both top and bottom to open and tilt out then price goes up. So for that it would seem $215 (Installed) per window would be fair. Most all would be trimmed out inside and out and painted outside but not inside anyway. And ??? for paint inside to = $5.000 difference = someone is lying to you. Have your father or brother help you because if you are not an expert, then they overcharge women and do a bad job to boot. The only way to protect yourself is to research and know as much or more than they do. And then be at home watching them every minute or they are going to do something you would really not want to face later. They take unfair advantage of any woman who is not prepared.

There are many ways you can do that. The one that works best for me is as follows, two separate hard drives with the power connected to it one at the time with a AB switch. It does not solve your dilemma with one drive, but if you feel like being in Linux mode, then power up the Linux drive. If windows is the choice for the day, then switch to the other drive and voila! It is kinda like driving, you either take the four wheeler out for a spin, or the Ferrari, depends on your mood at the time.

To install Windows, you just put the disk in the computer and then follow the instructions. Shouldn't be too hard.
