Save changes to DVD+R?

I burned a few documents onto DVD+R disk. Afterwards, I had to make some corrections to the documents, and I replaced the existing documents with the corrections. I also added a few more documents.

When I insert the DVD+R disk to the computer from which I burned the documents, I can open the documents and see the corrections. I can also see the added documents.

But when I insert the DVD+R disk to another computer, the correction is not there! And the additonal documents are gone!

Is +R for burning data once only? Do I need RW to be able to make corrections to documents, save the corrections, and burn additional data?

Update:

Finalize means that you close your burning session?

I was still able to burn more data onto the disk in second, third burning sessions. I still have space on the disk. But when I insert the disk into another compter, I just cannot see the corretions and addisions. All I see is deleted files.

Sounds like you are making a multi-session disk. Some PCs can only see your latest information if you finalize (also called closing) the disk when you are done recording. Once you do this though you can no longer store any more information on it but other machines should see the data.

A DVD +R or -R is a read/write disk. You can add more files to the disk as well as update existing files but as you do, the free space gets smaller and smaller until there is no more room available. It does this by just changing the file table on the disk to point to the new location of the updated file. Since it can't delete the original file it will still take up space. This is why the other machines can't see it. They can't understand the file table until the disk is finalized which basically means here is the final location of all the files on the disk.

A re-writeable disk can have files added and removed anytime without taking up more space each time a file is updated. This is because the file is actually removed from the disk when it is deleted.
