when michael is healthy, he can guarantee any club 20 goals a season. sadly he played for a club with too many superstars.

The number speaks for itself.
15 appearances in TWO years for a 25-millions-Euro player (who is supposedly in the prime age of his career) is not exactly a decent return of investment. I do think Michael will make one last attempt to come back next season. If his body cooperates, he'd be a nice contribution to his club- but I won't imagine he will be as deadly as he was before. If he would again be a victim of another long term injury, I suppose he will call it time.
At any rate, his bests are behind him, and he will go down as one of the most unfortunate talented players in recent memory.

Well the answer is in the question. "has been". Football is such a demanding sport even from the entertainment point of view that history sometimes stays in the dressing room. Its necessary though to maintain its freshness while keeping the actors in top shape. The only player I know who seems to have bucked this trend is old Becks. Increasing fame and fortune while in obviuos sporting decline.

Like many great players, I feel Owen got too much exposure as a youngster. He didn't have time to develop into the best player he could be, and any team who buys him now expect great things. He has had a lot of injury problems, and with the right team he could become a top striker again.

i agree, Michael has been very unfortunate with injuries though and I wish him the best of luck at Newcastle this year (just not in the first game). He is respected by most of the country which shows how good he actually is.

because he has not and even if he is, his injuries weigh him down and i don't think managers realise his importance which is not fair and it might happen to be that he is non charismatic. i love the way he plays but he is not just the best and as charismatic as other players. Well good luck for him next season
