It's just a raunchy teen comedy. It's very funny and not a lot of those situations occur in real life. But if you really think about it, guys think that way ALL THE TIME.

I loved the American Pie movies. There's a lot of truth of how guys think, and even though it's not pretty, it's really informative and some people can relate to the material.
Some guys would never screw a pie (#1), masturbate w/ crazy glue (#2), but I do know somone who shaved their pubes and throw it out a window (#3), and I was in the band but I don't know of anyone who had sex with a flute or an oboe (#4).
Some of the jokes are over the top, but there's a market for that. It's not for everyone. They make money, and they'll keep making American Pie Movies. They're already working on #6.

I think the fact that you read so much into the film says a lot about how YOU see the American goverynment, no the writer and director of the film. I think it does touch on how we as a people need to not follow blindly our leadership and how we need to ask the tough questions and not rely on a "hero" or a "government". And F.Y.I, the book is almost an exact retelling of George Orwell's 1984, which was written over sixty years ago, long before Bush was in office, and also happens to take place in London in the unknown future. I find it ver telling that you associated the, in your words, "Cowardly overtures", about the President, terrorism, and warmongering with America. Because when I saw it I associated it with modern Western world in general, Europe and the UK included. And if the writers were speaking out against the American government how is that being anti- American? Isn't that one of the things that makes the country great? One of the things that Bush likes to keep saying that we're giving to the Iraqi people? The ability to say what's on your mind without fear of censure and retaliation.

I thought they were hilarious because it is so true. I remember guys in high school constantly trying to get with the girls and acting stupid. I also remember overhearing conversations of guys with other guys and bragging. I am sure most of what they were saying were lies though. I don't think all the guys are shallow, but I have to say a lot of them were! Take heart, they do grow up eventually.

You should see American Wedding. It's not quite as vulgar b/c it actually has a good storyline and a great ending.
