Onset of migraines after exposure to trigger?

I'm wondering, on average, how long it takes people with migraines to get one after exposure to their particular triggers. Mine seem to be diet related (I've had every other test known to man with negative results) and I just get vertigo and then have a dull headache for 1-2 days. (I don't get the blinding pain type of migraine). If my guess is correct, mine seem to be triggered around 2 days from what I think my possible triggers are. Is that usual/unusual? Just curious.

I get migraines that are brought on by changes in barametric pressure (weather changes). At first I get an aura (faint squiggly lines in my peripheral vision), then the migraine happens along with light sensitivity.

I would say that my aura happens at the same time that the barametric pressure drops and the migraine comes on within 10-20 minutes after that.

It doesn't happen to me every time we have a change in weather. It only happens if the barametric pressure drops very quickly. People with arthritus pain can be affected the same way with weather changes.

I have the cluster migraines, even though I'm female. most of the time they're set off by foods like peanuts, peanut butter, cheddar cheese, etc. And, like you, the migraine is not always immediate. it may take up to 24 hours to fall into headache mode - so no, having a delayed reaction to a know trigger is not unusual. no one has the exact same migraine as anyone else, even though dr's know a lot about them and their causes. if you're concerned, call your dr.

men have a different type of migraines than women.Mens are more like cluster felt and can last longer than a womans.Diet related migraines means you need to stay away from choclate, certain cheeses and msgs.

Source(s): I'm a woman with migraines and have helped men with theirs also.
