Does anyone know what happened to the Renaissance Cruise ships?

I worked on the R4 in Tahitti for just over a month when 9/11 happened and Renaissance went bankrupt. Who owns the ships now? Where are they sailing? Any other info anyone has.

Oceania bought 3 and named them Insignia, Regatta, and Nautica; Princess bought 2 and named Tahitian Princess and Royal Princess, Pullmantur, a Spanish company bought two, then sold them to Celebrity who named them Azamara Journey and Azamara Quest; and Swan Hellenic bought 1 and named it Minerva II, which was then bought by Princess, who named it Pacific Princess - so they now have three.

As you know when the ships were owned by Renaissance they only had numbers, not names. They were simply called R1, R2, R3 . . . etc. I do not know which ship was the former R4.

I hope this information is what you were looking for.

I do know that 3 of the Rennaissance ships are now owned by Princess Cruise Lines. They are now named Pacific Princess (R3), Tahitian Princess ( R4) and the Royal Princess(R8). Oceania sails the R1, R2, and R5 with the names Insignia and Regatta and Nautica. R6 and R7 are sailed by Azmara cruises as Journey and Quest

Close - Minerva 2 became Royal Princess, she was just christened about a week and a half ago.

Pacific Princess and Tahitian Princess have been in the Princess fleet for the last several years.

Tahitian Princess was (and may still be) owned by the government of Tahiti which is why she has remained in Tahiti since coming to Princess. Contractually Princess was required to keep her in Tahiti until 2008, as a result she'll be heading to Alaska for the 2008 Alaska season.
