Labyrinthitis cures?

I've had labrynthitus for about 3 weeks now and it's really getting me down.

I've been to the doctor and he's said there's nothing he can give me, but it WILL go away, although it could take a few months.

Has anybody or anybody you know had this?: and if so, how did was it cured, if at all?

Update:

don't think it's viral as the doc said it wasn't infectious :oS

I am going back next week though so I shall ask then.

I have been given tablets (now finished), ear spray and nasal spray, ear spray not too 'helpful'. nasal spray mildly better.

Update 2:

it is definitely not viral, the doc did a diagram explaining how the nasal spray works (incidently the ear spray is useless as it is the ear which is blocked so therefore the spray can't get through.)

I agree and shall choose Miss Avalon as being the best answer, not only for the help and advise, which was/is appreciated, but because no-one else answered. ;o) (joke) it really is appreciated though,

Thank you very much.

Ha, when I get that, I just watch the movie Labyrinth and I'm cured. <3

No, really, I actually know what that is. Do you know if it's viral or bacterial...?

The physician should prescribe antibiotics if you have bacterial labyrinthitis. For both bacterial and viral labyrinthitis, an anti-nausea drug and a sedative also may be recommended to combat the effects of the vertigo. You will need to rest in bed for several days.

The severe symptoms of vertigo usually pass within a few days to a week, but in your case, three weeks is long. Feelings of imbalance may persist for several weeks or even months, particularly with quick movements. Recurrence of episodes of labyrinthitis is rare.

It took a friend of mine about a month to get over it, and then was still sensitive to movement for aanother month or two.

Hopefully someone can give you a better answer, and I hope you get over it soon!
