Chinese sucker fish is not active anymore...?
I got a chinese sucker fish a week ago. As far as i have seen, it has not been eating. Ive fed the aquarium 2 types of japanese made fish food. It just sucks the wall and kinda 'stones' there. Now after 7 days, the fellow is lying on the floor and not moving. Other fishes bump on it and suck on it, but it just stays put. Ive tried nudging it with my net, it swims abit and stops. It looks as tho its very tired. Is it because it has not been eating? There is no algae in my tank BTW.. Please advise.
yep, he is gone~ think is shall stick to fishes that are easier to maintian.

I would guess that your ammonia levels are high and he has no food. Get a good liquid test kit and do partial water changes until your ammonia levels are under 0.25 ppm.. These fish can poop a lot when they are growing and I have to vacuum my gravel to keep my ammonia down. All my fish, including this type, get sluggish if the ammonia is too high. Also, I would try the pleco food from Wardley. They are sinking disks that you put in at night (these fish are noctural and love the dark). I put one disk in every other night when I shut the light off (my pleco is still pretty small). I remove what's left with a gravel vac the next day. At first, my pleco didn't find it, it took him a few times. Now, he goes right too it and LOVES it. Not one bit left in the morning. I'm trying some veggies now (like zucchini) and he hasn't figured them out yet. I just have to give him a few days of it. Once I started him on the discs though, he started to GROW.
Good luck.

Are you referring to the Chinese Highfin shark or the Chinese Hillstream loach? Aquarium shop operators used to call them "Chinese sucker fish". For the Chinese High fin sharks, they are usually quite hardy - and not eating proper meals shouldn't be common. As for the smaller ones - Chinese Hill stream loaches, they are very sensitive to the condition of the water. (In case you are wondering what these loaches are - they look like mini stingrays.) These simple looking fish are not advisable for beginners because they die in water with too high chlorine, and they die in water with slightly higher ammonia level (when water gets contaminated). If it is the Hill stream loaches that you are referring to, try changing some of the water in your tank - make sure you condition the water first so that chlorine levels are taken care of.
I was thinking could it be the Japanese Fish Food that is causing the problem? Maybe you can change it to Chinese Fish Food. (hahaha... just joking).
Well, just try changing the water and see how. Stop feeding it with more fish food because it will only cloud the water and make things worse.
If you do not have good filtration system that cleanses the water and ensure water is circulated properly, it could probably be the cause as well. If this is what you think causes the problem, it is time to get a better filter pump. Do not get those that are overpowerful as they can toss your fish round and round the tank making them very stressful.

try blanched zucchini, plecos love that. if he doesnt eat it, he could be sick. test your water paramaters (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, temp) ammonia and nitrite should be 0. nitrate no more than 40. temp around 77. if any of those are off even by a little, it could affect him. ammonia and nitrite do serious damage at numbers higher than .50, do a water change and see if it helps him.
