Have any ideas?
I'm writing an essay for English. The subject is an everyday object, and I obviously chose my computer. The essay has to be at least 1000 words, and I have 400 so far. I'm having trouble thinking of more things to write about. Have any ideas ? :]

I tell my students that when writing a larger essay, they should try to think of 3-4 points they want to discuss and treat those points as smaller essays.
For your topic, you could discuss the following points:
1. Computer effects on language (both positive and negative)
2. Computer effects on health (both positive and negative)
3. Computer effects on relationships (friendship, family, marriages, etc.)
If you want to discuss topics that are less opinion based, you can discuss the history of the computer.
Writing a 1000 word essay is about 4-5 pages. The introduction and conclusion should take up about a page, and that leaves 1 page for each of sub-topics.
Hope this helps!

I'm 68 almost 69 I didn't learn to use the computer until 4 years ago. I just had a few basics from my daughter and the rest has all been click'n go........I'm amazed at how many people my age don't use a computer. I think it is the best thing in my entire life.........I am able to stay in touch with friends and family on a daily basis regardless of what country or state they are in. I have the opportunity to see places in the world that I would never see otherwise. The beauty of it is, I can leave my pajamas on and travel the world to parts unknown. Then I can send pictures to my friends and family all with the click of the mouse.
I marvel everyday about this machine. When I wnt to High School there was no such thing as a computer. At least one that was literally the super highway of information for all people to have access to. Calculators had 10 rows of numbers across and 10 rows down with a handle to make it work.

How getting information fast from the computer has created a more impatient society. Also a more dangerous society with sexual predators as well as, for example, google street cams that allow people to spy in neighbors windows. It is a breach of our privacy. Next you can explain how it has revolutionized theft. Just a couple of topics among the myriads that there are. Hope this helped!

You may be having trouble coming up with more to write about because it such a part of your everyday life. How about writing about the computer through the eyes of someone who has never seen one? When forced to imagine what you see and think about the computer from that perspective, you may see new ways to describe it, etc.
