Who has a better chance of being the next Shaq or dominant center in the future?

Yao Ming. Yao Ming is actually a really good player, everyone rips on him because...well I'm not actually sure why. Watch for Yao Ming to have a fantastic season with Rick Adelman as their head coach this season, he really knows what he is doing as a true player's coach. The question didn't ask for a player that plays like Shaq, it asked for the next dominant center. To me, Yao Ming is already a dominant center, so this is a pretty easy question. Yao Ming.

Dwight Howard would have the best chance but it won't be any. None of them has Shaq's size and strength, which is what really gave Shaq the edge over everyone he played around. Yao is already 26/27 and would have gotten there already. Oden doesn't have the offensive skill that Shaq has, and Howard will be the best of the 3, in my opinion, but won't come close to Shaq in terms of dominance. It'll have to be someone else to come, if that day does come.

Shaq is a unique player that's why none of these 3 will the next Shaq:

Dwight Howard - lacks the offensive firepower of Shaq. He dominates the paint through his rebounding prowess.

Greg Oden - has yet to prove his game in the NBA. Tagged as the best big man to enter the NBA since Duncan.

Yao Ming - game is completely different to Shaq. Not considering Amare, the best free-throw shooting center in the league.

Dominant center in the future, maybe Dwight because of the combination of athleticism and power.

Dwight Howard is young and athletic, and Yao and Oden have really yet to prove themselves. In the long run, I say Dwight Howard.

Greg Oden. Dwight Howard isn't great, Yao is weak.

Yao Ming>Shaq

Probably Oden. The way he dominated Florida in the CG should really be a concern to teams thinking about drafting Noah.

I haven't seen much from Oden.

Yao will never be a Shaq type player.

Dwight Howard will be my choice. He is already showing alot of signs that he will be the next dominant Center.

Oden is built more like the Shaqster then the other 2 and i hear he even make a couple free throws.
