Bloating and gas during mensturation.What causes this and how can one avoid it or reduce it?
While you are at it, could you give me any pointers on how to deal with extreme irritability during mensturation?

Save your money, girl. Excercise helps me with gas during my period or any time in general. Running or dancing works best. A good cardio workout of some kind gets air flowing through your digestive track pretty quickly.
If that is too uncomfortable for you, go on a nice long walk instead. Also, eat smaller, more frequent meals. Take a hot bath to relax those muscles. Hope this helps.
As for the irritability, try listening to music. Any kind works. Soft music will calm you down, high energy music will give you energy, etc. Soft is best for moodswings though. Pay conscious attention to when you are starting to feel irritated. Most people don't do that but you can learn. Then ask yourself - are you actually ANGRY? Are you annoyed? Or are you just plain mad for no reason? Whatever the feeling is, decide what to do about it. Do fun activities like going to the park or something. It is easier to be irritated being in the house or at work all day because boredom doesn't help.

You can buy charcoal capsules and they work great on gas and bloating. You should be able to find them in the vitamin aisle or at GNC. You can use them anytime you have gas, not just during menstruation. I'm not sure what to tell you on the irritability. You might ask if you go to GNC. They might have something.

Take Midol. I LOVE IT!!! it works SO fast and takes care of alot! And to make it work faster take a hot bath and just try to relax while it kicks in. Good luck!
