Why is this Toshiba laptop so slow?
My daughter has a Toshiba laptop. It is basically slow all of the time but if it sits idle it gets to the point where it has to be restarted to be able to use it. I went under startup and unchecked some of the boxes but that didn't help. I have also run disk cleanup and disk defrag and something that checks the drive for errors. I have run Spybot, Malware Bytes and avast virus scans. Nothing has helped. Does anyone out there know what the problem could be and what to do about it? Thanks.
4 AnswersLaptops & Notebooks9 years agoI have a vibration when I'm on the Interstate?
I know the tires being out of balance can cause a vibration. Would a broken belt or something in a tire cause this? Is there anything else? I'm asking because I'm about to go back to Sears and I might not be very nice. I bought the tires at Sears a few months ago and I took it in Saturday to have them rotated. I had been hearing a noise that sounded like a tire noise to me. I really expected them to tell me they found something in one of the tires but they didn't. I didn't notice this vibration before they rotated the tires so I think they didn't balance them or didn't balance them correctly. I will probably take it back today and ask them to rebalance the tires and check for a broken belt or foreign object in one of the tires. I just wanted opinions on whether it could be anything else before I go and demand they redo what they were supposed to have done on Sat.
2 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs9 years agoWhen I open Windows Task Manager there are a bunch of processes running.?
My computer runs slowly and at certain times of the day if I try to do something online, inevitably the shockwave player will stop working. When I open Windows Task Manager, I see a bunch of things running under the Processes tab. How do I know what needs to be running and what I can stop? Any other suggestions on making sure things aren't running in the background causing the computer to be slow?
2 AnswersOther - Computers9 years agoUpdated my Blackberry Bold 9650 and now it's awful.?
I downloaded an update and it's like the difference in Windows and DOS. My screen is white and all of the icons are very small. Some just look like little black & white Blackberries and don't say what they are. I can't get them to highlight either so I don't know which one will open if I click. I want it back the way it was. Is there any way to remove the update?
1 AnswerCell Phones & Plans9 years ago2000 Toyota Corolla sometimes stalls when pulling out into traffic?
My daughter's 2000 Toyota Corolla has been stalling when pulling out of the driveway. She revs the engine when she starts it before backing out of the garage but by the time she gets to the end of her driveway and starts to pull out onto the road it dies and she has to restart it. We have had this problem off and on but it seems to be getting worse. She took it to Sears and had them do a tune up and flush the fuel line. It seemed better at first but now, after a few months, it's worse. I bought a bottle of fuel injector cleaner and put in it but that didn't help either. It doesn't do it every time she goes anywhere, just sometimes. We traded her cars for a few months and didn't have much trouble with it. It might have died once or twice but she says it's doing it a lot to her now. I'm wondering if it's a sensor. Is there anything else it could be besides a sensor? I also wondered if the fuel filter needed replaced but my husband thought she would have trouble all of the time if it were the fuel filter.
2 AnswersToyota9 years ago2000 Infiniti G20 doesn't run right?
This car starts ok but doesn't want to go very fast. The RPM's rev but the speed has trouble increasing. A neighbor looked at it and said the spark plugs were worn and needed changed and also mentioned a sensor. My husband changed both the spark plugs & the sensor. It still isn't running right and no one seems to know what is wrong with it. He has had it to a few different garages but no one knows what's wrong. I guess the computer isn't showing anything. Yesterday he had a guy go over it and he said all of the sensors are ok. He wondered about the catalytic converter so he checked it and it checked out ok. What do you do when mechanics can't even figure out what's wrong? Anyone out there know much about Infinitis or Nissans? We don't have any Infiniti dealers in our area.
3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs10 years agoI have 16 acres, how can I make money?
I have almost 16 acres of land that is mostly hillside and mostly wooded. I wonder if there's a way to use the land to make money legally. I'm not going to grow pot or anything like that. I don't think there are enough trees to timber it. It's 1 mile from a main road and I don't know that there would be any need to put a cell tower there. I don't know how to go about finding out that information either. We bought the land with the intention of building a house and moving there but that hasn't worked out. We tried to sell the land but it didn't sell. I'm debating whether to try selling again or to keep it. Any suggestions for a legal way to use the land to make money?
2 AnswersOther - Business & Finance1 decade agoToyota Sienna puts out puff of smoke on start up?
I just bought a 2004 Toyota Sienna. It has around 97,000 miles on it. Lately we've noticed that it puts out a puff of smoke when I first start it in the mornings. I did get hit the other day. It damaged the left rear quarter panel and bumper. I don't know if it did this before I got hit or not. I can't say that we noticed it but I don't know how getting hit there would have caused it. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

My daughter would like this hairstyle for prom. We generally do her hair ourselves. Can anyone give me an idea of how to do this hairstyle? The front should be fairly easy but we aren't sure about the back. http://bios.weddingbee.com/pics/38672/40s-hairstyl...
2 AnswersHair1 decade agoMy parents computer has adware on it and it won't let us do anything. Is there a way to get rid of it?
Every time my parents turn on their computer this page comes up saying their computer is infected and asking them to buy this program. The adware won't let us go online or open any other programs. I couldn't even start the computer in safe mode. Is there something I can download onto a disk on another computer that would run if I put it in their computer and remove the adware. Or maybe something they could buy in a store that wouldn't have to be downloaded. I'm not sure that it will even let anything run from a disk drive. Best Buy said they would work on it for $199. but they can buy a new one for just a little more than that. Any suggestions?
6 AnswersSecurity1 decade agoMy van is making a knocking noise?
I have a 2000 Chrysler T & C with almost 150,000 miles on it. When I take my foot off the gas it starts making a knocking noise. When I'm pressing the gas it doesn't. Also, it doesn't do it every time I take my foot off the gas, just sometimes. I did notice this morning when I was using cruise control that it did it a little bit, off and on. I've spent quite a bit of money on repairs over the past couple of years. I really hate to have another expensive repair. Anyone have any idea what it might be and if it's something expensive to work on?
3 AnswersChrysler1 decade agoMicrosoft Access help needed?
I have a form with a subform. The form pulls information from a query and I'm not having any trouble with that. The subform also pulls information from that same query. I can get the first line of the subform to fill in just fine but when I go to the second line of the subform I get a box that says, "You can't assign a value to this object. The object may be a control on a read only form. The object may be on a form that is open in design view. The value may be too large for this form." I get this when I don't have anything else open so I know nothing is open in design view. I don't have the text box set low so the value shouldn't be a problem. Is is because I am using the same query that I'm using in the form? At first I thought it was a quantity box I had that didn't pull information so I deleted it and am still getting the same message. Any help would be appreciated.
1 AnswerSoftware1 decade agoWhat's a good restaurant around Beckley, WV or Lewisburg, WV?
My husband and I will be celebrating our 20th anniversary this year. I am planning a trip to Cass, WV and plan to stop for dinner in either Beckley or Lewisburg. I plan to rent a hotel room in Lewisburg. So, I'm looking for a really good place to eat in either place. I searched the Internet and found several places but can only find reviews for two of them. The two I found reviews for are the Char and Pasquale Mira, both in Beckley. Some others that had interesting names are: Johansen's, Fort Savannah, Windmill, Inc., New River Grill Co., Lakeview and Benton's Seafood. Has anyone been to any of these or know of any other nice restaurants in the area? Thanks.
2 AnswersOther - US Dining Out1 decade agoHP laser printer leaving black lines and extra print on pages. What can I do?
This HP laser printer worked fine until I put in the new toner cartridge. Now it leaves black lines and it even reprints some of the text in a different spot on the paper. For instance, I printed something with a letterhead. About half way down the page you can see the letterhead in the background. I have some paper path cleaning sheets that I have used several times but it doesn't seem to help. When I pull out the toner cartridge and look at the roller it looks clean. I even wiped over it with a paper towel and didn't get any black on the paper towel. Is it just a bad toner cartridge or is there something I can do to get it to print clearer?
4 AnswersPrinters1 decade agohow do I get rid of web sites that have apparently downloaded on my computer?
First, I have a balloon that keeps coming up saying there may be spyware on my computer. If I click on the balloon it takes me to a web site wanting me to download or buy their product. I have Ad-aware and avast and this isn't from either of these. The second problem has to do with searching the Internet. We search on yahoo and a list of sites comes up, we click on one and it opens another search page for a different site that's not yahoo. I have deleted cookies, run both the ad-aware and avast and gone under internet settings but can't find anything. The third problem I have now is that when we run avast it brings up a list of files that it's unable to scan. For a while we got warnings saying there was a trojan but if we clicked it took us to a web site wanting to sell us their product. We don't get those anymore. I also can't do a system restore for some reason. Anyone have any idea what's going on?
2 AnswersOther - Computers1 decade ago2000 Toyota Corolla cd player?
We have a 2000 Toyota Corolla that we bought used. It had been wrecked and repaired. The stereo system gives all indications that there should be a cd changer but we can't find one or anywhere to put a cd. We don't know if it might have been damaged when the car was wrecked or maybe they just removed it and didn't replace it. The owner's manual doesn't show where the cds go either. Can someone out there who has a Toyota Corolla tell me where the cd changer might be? Thanks.
2 AnswersToyota1 decade agoWhat is the last line in the movie "The Thomas Crown Affair"?
My husband was watching "The Thomas Crown Affair" with Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo today when my daughter came in the room and said something. It was at the very end of the movie and he didn't hear Rene Russo's last line. She had jumped over the airplane seat onto him and they had kissed then she started out saying something like, "If you ever pull a stunt like that again" or "If you ever do something like that again" but we didn't hear it all. Can any movie buffs out there help, please?
3 AnswersMovies1 decade agoQueen size bed?
Because of the ceiling over my stairs, I can't fit a queen size box spring up the steps. Right now, I have a queen size waterbed but plan on getting something new soon. Is there any other type of bed (queen size) besides a waterbed that doesn't use a box spring? I know I can use the mattress without a box spring but I wonder how comfortable that would be. I also know I could get a king size since the box springs are actually two twin size. Any other ideas out there?
3 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling1 decade agoChrysler Town & Country a/c - compressor?
I bought a 2000 Town & Country last September. The a/c worked fine until this Sept. I had a guy put in a can of stop leak and a can of freon. That helped for about a month. Now, the a/c isn't blowing out cold air again. I also noticed the defrost doesn't blow out cold air. The air is just like if I had it on vent instead of a/c. The compressor runs when it's on a/c. The guy that added the freon said that used to the compressor would shut off if it was low on freon. I wonder if there is a problem with the compressor or does it just need more freon? Anyone have any ideas?
4 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoWomen and breast cancer - important.?
I hope I can do this on here. I just got an e-mail about a bill in congress. Most insurance companies don't want to pay for a woman to stay in the hospital after a mastectomy and are even trying to make it outpatient surgery. There is a bill in congress to allow a woman 48 hours in the hospital after surgery if her doctor thinks she needs it. Lifetime tv has a petition going to try to get this bill passed. Here is the link. www.lifetimetv.com/breastcancer/petition/signpetition.php If the link doesn't work, go to www.lifetimetv.com/breastcancer and click on the tab that says sign petition. I went to snopes and checked this out to make sure it is true and it is. So, for all of the women out there, please sign the petition.
