Toyota Sienna puts out puff of smoke on start up?
I just bought a 2004 Toyota Sienna. It has around 97,000 miles on it. Lately we've noticed that it puts out a puff of smoke when I first start it in the mornings. I did get hit the other day. It damaged the left rear quarter panel and bumper. I don't know if it did this before I got hit or not. I can't say that we noticed it but I don't know how getting hit there would have caused it. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Most likely worn valve stem seals.
Not a major issue unless you start seeing smoke continuously. Just remember to key an eye on your oil level at least once a week. Preferably check it at every fuel top off.

Many cars, even brand new ones, blow a slight puff of white steam vapor even when it is not winter time. After the engine warms, this stops. the steam is usually water vapor and drips of water can be seen to be dripping from your tail pipe---which most people don't realize because they can't see back there...if however it is black, dark, or blue smoke instead of the puffy initial steam from start up, then it could be the beginning of a bigger problem involving oil consumption.

is it smoke ? blue? black? or just water vapour [which is normal]
a dented fender will NOT cause smoke from engine lol
