I took mine right after my Junior year ended. It was late June when they took my picture.

Senior pictures are professionally done, you choose outfits, get hair and make up done, and you can choose backgrounds. The photographers help you look your best and can position your body to help you look better. Senior yearbook pictures are professionally done in a cap and gown as well as a drape. Most schools offer it at school if you don't want to go out and get it done professionally but either way it will cost money. I'm also not big on the whole memories thing, but I like the idea of getting my picture taken and looking pretty and stuff..I mean these are also pictures you can hand out to family and friends to remember each other by.

I'm a photographer and I begin shooting senior pictures in the spring of kids' junior year (some girls want lots of spring flowers).

I generally shoot through most of the summer, except when it's very hot, and continue through fall.

The most important thing you need to check on is when our pictures are due for the yearbook! Sometimes it can take MONTHS to get pictures back from a photographer (not me!). If your school is like our schools, you can choose to submit a picture or they use your "school" picture (YUCK).

The summer is good though, because once school starts up in the fall, you'll be VERY busy!

    Enjoy your senior year!

Contact your school. They will know when you should turn in a senior photo for the yearbook staff. It seems to me that if the school can have photographers in for school pictures in October, you should be able to get yours done then, too.

Second, get your hair cut, at least a week or two before your picture. (That way, if it's too short, it will grow out a little in time.)

Make an appointment with a good photographer and ask if you can look at their backdrops ahead of time so you can plan your wardrobe and any accessories you may want (my step-niece had her dog with her--very cute, while another boy she knew had his classic car in it).

    Enjoy your senior year!

before. The summer before being a senior. =D but it kinda sucks coz when we get the yearbooks at the end of the year, we look nothing like our picture because we changed so much. haha i wish the picture was taken at the end of the year.

Boy, these people have loser schools. Why take a picture when you are a junior.????...so when u get to be an old man, you can look back and see what you looked like as a junior 2 times???????????????

When I was in school the pictures were taken when I was a Senior and it was in February. This way all of the pictures had a couple of months to develop and still get in the yearbook. Yeah, we had around 435 students in our granduating class so it took work out of the teachers/yearbook people, etc.

People were NOT as lazy back then!! LOL

Have them done in the summer because you usually have to turn in all of your yearbook things like the first month of your senior year.
