If you had to choose between a low end Acer laptop and a low end Compaq laptop which would you choose?
Limited resources, buying a laptop for university student son. $599 tops. Looking at two laptops both with comparable features both about $499- one a Compaq and one an Acer. Computer will be used for term papers--no heavy duty graphics or business use.

if i had to choose between the two then i would choose compaq....but i personally thinks that u should try out HP laptops too cause i think u will find a better one in HP in the same price range

Go with Acer and you wont regret it.
Compaqs are ok but the customer service and warranty repair are absolutely horrible.
If the laptops you are buying dont have warranty and you dont buy any additional warranty then get whatever you want.
They will pretty much be the same.

why sont you look for a toshiba at the same sort of money, it would be much more reliable and better quality, otherwise i would go for the acer as i dont think much about compaq

All i can say is Acer tech support is mediocre,very very very poor.The only answer they know to every problem,is we dont support that,no matter what the question.Go with compaq. Great tech support,live tech support 24/7
