Come on folks...?

I agree Benoit was a fantastic wrestler....but you have to admit killing is wrong. Period. I understand you want to pay tribute to his life's accomplishments because of his skill in the ring, but no matter how many title reigns he had, murder is murder. Just admit it to yourselves and stop sticking up for the guy.

I will try to be kind here to wrestling fans. I keep seeing these questions popping up. The number one thing people have to remember is that the Chris Benoit that you "knew" was a character. The man on the WWE shows was not really him. It was a character and persona that he played. For example if Tobey Magwire were to have done this, we would not be sitting around saying "I can't believe Spiderman or Peter Parker did such a thing. He is such an inspiration." Why? Because we all know that those are his characters. The reality line for wrestling is a bit more blurred, but these people are actors playing characters. Should this man be idolized and memorialized? Unless something major happens definitely not. OJ has been ostracized simply on suspicion of such an act (without the killing of a child). This looks to be a case of someone who had severe problems and will not be seen as a hero.

Dude, it's the character!!! C'mon. Wrestlers don't live through their characters!!! You think that people who play murderers in The Sopranos actually live that way?!! Chris was Chris Benoit in the ring, but he was a regular Chris Benoit when he was out of the ring. We know the difference. Let the character have the tribute. You can convict the man, but not the character.

Most know him as a CHARACTER, not a PERSON. The tribute is to the CHARACTER, and that character never committed a murder.
