Driving from IL to Indy airport. When do I leave?
A friend is leaving AZ @ 6:30 PM arriving in INDY @ 1AM. Takes 2 hours for me to drive to the airport. Are IL and IN on the same time right now? When should I leave?

I have made the drive from Chicago to Indy way too many times. It will take you longer than 2 hours. Give yourself at least a 3 hour time frame. Traffic can still be quite rushy at 10 pm on the 80/94 from IL to Northern IN. In addition, a lot of construction work takes place at night, so find out what kind of construction/lane closures there are along I-65 in Indiana.
Also Indianapolis is one hour ahead of IL. So, if it 9pm in IL it will be 10pm in Indy. I would leave no later than 9pm Chicago time in order to make sure you make it to the airport in time. Also check the flight status using flightarrivals.com to make sure the plane took off on time and is still scheduled to arrive at 1 am before you take off.
