Methane is not converted into oil. The energy in methane is converted to electricity by burning methane in a modified internal combustion engine, which turns a turbine/generator, which generates electricity.

You can't convert methane into oil. Methane can be burned directly to power generators.

The methane burns and the combustion gas spins a turbine, which spins a generator. The methane is not liquified.
