Does anyone know of a GOOD cat allergy medication?

I have tried clarityn and it doesn't seem to be doing the business! Oh and it has to be non-drowsy.....

Depends on how the allergy affects you and whether you have a cat of your own or only come in to contact occasionally.

If the problem is general, eyes, chest and skin, I suggest you will have to try other antihistamines. It might be worth giving mizolastine Mizollen, a try it is supposed to be not drowsy and is sometimes more effective. If the problem is mainly wheeze, and the contact predictable and occasional only inhaled sodium cromoglycate (Intal) started the night before an intended contact might work.

Clarityn never worked for me either for hayfever or my cats so I use Piriteze (note Piriteze which is all day NOT Piriton which is only 4 hours) you can get it over the counter at Boots, same as Clarityn - I have no idea why this works & the other doesn't but if I miss a day I really notice it ... hope it works for you too !!!!!!

I have been allergic to Cat Hair since a child and the only thing to do is give the cat away to a good home. I even have to stay away from friends homes if there is a cat in residence. Sorry if this sounds cruel, but all the allergy tablets will do is give you relief for a few hours... and then back to square one!

Hi,I bought some " piriton " allergy tablets a couple of days ago for my hayfever,on the front of the box it says they will help with pet allergies. I have found them very good i shall stick to using these and they didn't make me feel drowsy which many allergy tablets have done in the past,i recommend them.

Have you tried Boots own antihistamine - don't know if its non-drowsy.

The thing about cats to which most people have an allergy is the dry saliva (dander) where they are constantly washing themselves - this turns into dust which is how you pick it up in the air.

Getting someone to sponge puss over daily might help to lessen the problem
