I give my dogs bottled water, is this a waste?
I have always given my dogs bottled water because it is cold. Am I depriving them of some vitamins or minerals from tap water? Am I wasting my money?

Geez, I don't know. Seems like there's a big environmental push to stop drinking bottled water and rather carry your own water bottle with water from home. The dogs aren't being deprived of anything. Do you drink the tap water. Do you have a water dispenser on your fridge. If so, use a glass or cup and give your pups what you drink. You can always put ice in the water. You can also buy gallon jugs of water that's a bit less expensive. My mom lets her tap water sit for a day to evaporate out the chlorine.!?! I give my pets water from our well, which is what I drink. I change it morning and night and refill as needed with fresh water.

Depending on where you live, your tap water may be better than most bottled waters. There are no vitamins in water but there are some minerals.
If you are concerned about chlorine, let it sit open for about a day to let the chlorine disapate then refrigerate it if you want to cool it down. You might also consider a water filter system like the ones that come with pitchers (Britta or Pur, for example). That will give good tasting water at a much cheaper price than bottled.

Tap water contains a lot of chlorine which can cause artery problems in all animals, including people.
I always give my dog filtered water because I want her to be more healthy.
Most bottled waters still have a mineral content. They just don't list them on the bottles. Unless it is distilled, there are minerals always present in water.

Tap water is just as good as bottled water (in most areas). Put a pitcher of water in the fridge to use for your dogs if you want cold water.

My husband insists the cats get filtered water, too, lol. He loves them. I grew up on NYC tap water, but then that has turned out to be not so great in recent years. There was some warning for a while not to drink it. You are not wasting your money. If you drink bottled water, why shouldn't the dog if you think it's good?
Hey, someone is feeding rain water? YUCK!

Bottled water is just a little better than tap water, because tap water is treated to remove bacteria and other matter. Tap water is not healthier than bottled water....
However, the difference may not be worth the effort...

Bottled water is the best water to give your dogs. Tap water has chlorine and other harmful chemicals in it. Your dogs must think of you as an amazing person since you're treating them like royalty with bottled water. Just stay off the Perrier since it's pretty much seltzer. And, of course, you're not wasting your money. If you want it to stay colder longer, put it in a pitcher and throw(not literally) it in the fridge!
Hope this Helps!

It's your money to waste. To save money and because I don't love tap water myself. I use a pet fountain for my dogs and cat which has a charcoal filter and also use Brita filtered water for myself and my dogs and cat.
Much cheaper than buying bottled, but tastes better than my local water.
I keep a Brita pitcher in my fridge...so cold and filtered.
For owners of white dogs like Bichons and Maltese, bottled water is recommended to avoid eye stains....but filtered works just as well and is cheaper.

Purified water is much better for anyone... it's free of harmful chemicals and all sorts of crap. Buy bulk jugs of purified water that you can reuse and refill at your local market. Be gentle on the environment! Besides, it will last longer AND it is WAY cheaper! I only hope that you are not using a new water bottle everyday for your dog.
