http://youtube.com/watch?v=DwI_qlq5vHs

This video sums up how i am against it. I just wanted to share this video it opens up your eyes and makes you feel sad that other people could do this to a dog. Dont be ashamed if u cry it is sad that this is happening to poor dogs now. I am considering getting a pitbull now when i hit 18

Update:

I would like to thank everyone here who is not supporting Dog fighting. Just by giving ur voice you help change other non pittbull lovers into lovers of the breed. Oh i would also love to help pittbulls but unfortunateley I cant because im always so busy doing community service, like cleaning trails repairng docks, (scout stuff) so i help now when ever i have free time Thanks again

I hate people that raise an animal to fight. Unfortunately, it happens much to often and is usually raised by an idiot that will fight his/her battles with a gun, instead of training and getting in the ring with a REAL fighter (boxing, karate, etc).

Pit Bull's have a bad reputation, because they are naturally strong and "bull headed", but they can be wonderful, loving pets if raised and treated properly. As with any animal, they will react the way they are trained. Some states have made it illegal to own a pitbull, and perhaps with good reason. Once a dog (or any animal, including the human animal) has been trained and conditioned to fight/kill........it's not a very nice pet/friend.

OK, I'll step off my soap box now. Be aware, though, when you turn 18 and decide to get a Pittbull, some people will be judgemental and if your dog happens to bite anyone or another pet.......you could be in trouble. My neighbor has a dog from HELL, and it's a little house slipper, a mixed breed of poodle and something.......and bites anyone and everyone. The owners think it's funny. The mail carrier made them put the mail box on the street because that dog is a biter, but the authorities won't do anything about it, since it's in a fenced yard. If it was a Pittbull, the authorities would have taken the dog and put it to sleep. That's what I mean about being cautious if you choose to adopt a Pit. Unfair, yes, but that's life.

If you do adopt a Pit, I hope you give him/her lots of love and attention, great excersise and play, good training and of course..........good food and doggy treats. Please don't forget the Vet, have your dog immunized and if you don't plan to breed, please neuture or spay.

Here's a cute story. When my son was about 4yo, we adopted a female dog, mixed breed and sweet as they come. I took her to the vet to be spayed, and the vet asked my little son why he was bringing his doggie to see him. All innocence, my son said, "I want you to "SPRAY" her please, but not in her eyes." He's 18 now, and would kill me if he knew I told that story, but we still spay and nueture our pets.

I'm glad you have such compassion for animals. It's a great thing to be able to feel enough to cry for a dog. It shows how much maturity and love you have. I hope you continue to have that same love and compassion as you grow older.

    "puppy hugs" to you.

I have always said and TRULY meant this - if I find people that hurt animals on purpose, even if it means going to jail for the rest of my life, I would do to them what they did to the helpless animal. I have heard of stories with boiling water, kicking and punching, nails being stuck in.

I feel so strongly about this. I am not a Christian but even if I was, this is one thing I could NEVER forgive. If the only way I had to make money (if I had a pit bull) was to make it fight, I would give the animal to a shelter and starve to death. Seriously.

If someone told me the address of a person that made their dog fight, I would first of all be SURE to get the right person, take a look at the dog and whatever state it was in (if still alive) would make sure that person felt the same way as the dog did. (after of course taking the dog into my house to love and care for - or maybe if i was going to jail to give it to a family who would love and care for it)

I seriously DETEST people who hurt animals. A fine is not enough for them, neither is a jail sentence and being told they cant own pets for the next 6 months, they DESERVE every bit of pain they get and deserve to be hurt the same way the dog has - or any animal if you widen the spectrum to just animal cruelty.

It makes me SO mad. More people need, whether they like it or not, to be told exactly what happens in some cases like this video sort of goes into. People need to help the animals and ALWAYS keep an eye out for something unusual - even if they live in a good neighbourhood.

I am seriously worked up thinking about this !!!!

I don't live in my own place at the moment, but my plan in years to come (I'm only 21 now) is to get a farm or large area of land, save up as much money as possible and keep earning lots if I can and just take in dogs from animal shelters. Any kind as long as they get on. This isthe only way I can personally think of helping at the moment. Any suggestions? Apart from kicking the s**t out of anyone that even TOUCHES an animal in the wrong way?

OMG how terrible is that video! I love my pit bull so much it made me cry! All those poor dogs wanted was to be loved and be part of a family! It breaks my heart to know people can be so cruel! I believe people who mistreat animals should suffer the same pain they caused the animal! Eye for an eye! I have grown up owning pit bulls and they are the kindest dogs I have ever owned. I have also had German Sheppard's, and a Queensland. By far the Pit Bull has been the sweetest dog in my life. I hope that one day the world opens it's eyes and sees that dog fighting is one of the worst crimes there are! Good luck when you get a pup they are a handful and love to chew on stuff!! Mine loves to chew on wood! Our fire wood stack gets rearranged everyday!!!

I have a pit mix. He is a great dog but they do require more supervised training than some breeds. I think 99% of people on this site are dead set against any dog fighting not just pit. Just make sure you properley socialize, and train your pit. I suggest doing some research on any breed dog you are going to get so you know their tendancies, needs, and common health issues. Good Luck.

Yes Pits can be wonderful pets, just as any other breed. It is these rotten people who either fight them or have no clue how to train and raises them that are the problem. They are a very powerful dog with very powerful jaws. And when not trained and cared for properly, disasters can happen.

It's a shame that these careless owners or the people who fight them gave them a bad name.

Better yet, you should really consider volunteering for a pit bull rescue group or a shelter that adopts out pit bulls. Education is key to keeping bully breeds welcomed in our society and we need more people who understand these breeds out there talking to the public and our law makers. We can't let any more cities put breed restrictions in place. It's not right!

i think the owner of the dogs should be put away dogs are not to be used for that purpose they don"t deserve to have a dog maybe the owners of the dogs should be put in a ring so dog lovers can bet on witch one of them will come out of the fight alive any one who would do that to any dog is sick

I did. Bawled like a baby. That was SO great. Did you create it?

Added, to those of you who thinks the questioner is promoting dog fighting, WATCH the video. It is well made and heartbreaking.

Pit Bulls are great dogs, you should really get one. When people raise them wrong, they can be violent, but its not the breeds fault, which is something people just can't understand. Personally, I love them =) And im thinking of adopting one myself when im older.

i don't need to see a video to know that dog fighting is wrong and stupid....

if your planning on getting a pit bull make sure you get a puppy, check out the parents , make sure they arnt abused and aren't trained to be mean.

this trait can rub off on the pups as she carries them...

when you have picked out a pup train it to be a good watch dog and a good family dog... he will love you and your family and will protect you as well...

its all in how you train them.

if you train your pup to be mean then her will turn on you and your family.

if you train your pup to be a good watch dog and a good family pet he will be... just that...

i raised my kids with pit bulls and all didn't have any problems what so ever.

    good luck

have fun with your new pup.

    cheers
