Every time I start the computer, warning appears " symantec antivirus is turned off". This disappears later.
This warning message appear every time the computer is started, remains for a brief period and then goes off automatically. Despite auto ptotect being kept enabled, this is recurring. During the period of appearence and disappearence of this warning, no other computer functions respond properly. I have checked various settings, but could not find a solution so far. Can anybody suggest a solution to solve this problem ?

When I used Norton mine did that also, it’s just because it takes a min or two to load up, as long as the warning goes away within a couple mins you should be alright. With other functions not working it’s mainly because there are dozens of programs loading up and your computer’s memory is most likely maxed out, depending on your system specs it just might need a few moments to get everything loaded and working properly.

Honestly....you might want to switch to a different form of virus protection. Norton uses a tone of system resources and really isn't that good when it comes to protection.
Pc Cillin by Trend Micro is a real good program and doesn't use nearlly the amount of resources that Norton uses.
If you do decide to switch i would recommend switching to Trend Micro's Internet Security with Spyware protection...however if you do decide to switch to Trend don't install the firewall that comes bundled with the program and be sure to uninstall Norton by downloading the following Norton Removal Tool @ http://www.majorgeeks.com/Norton_Removal_Tool_SymN... Good Luck Hommie.
