What are the most frightening episodes of "The Twilight Zone" and why?

I'm a 6th grade teacher who uses episodes of "The Twilight Zone" to show story arc, climax, and as a source for open-ended questions about which students can write.

Which episodes have that "it" factor that will make them memorable sources of language arts instruction?

I also think the one with William Shatner on the plane is scary. Another one is with Agnes Moorehead as an old woman living in a run down house all alone. There's no dialogue until the very end of the episode. She hears noises and see tiny 'things' in her house that frighten her greatly, and finally she catches them and destroys them. Only at the very end do we see that the 'things' were NASA astronauts from earth and she was a giant alien on another planet! The lack of dialogue made it all the more frightening. I think the way the script was written would be a good way of showing how written instructions can influence the end product. - Twilight Zone is one of my all time favorite shows because of the wonderfully creative and imaginative writing!

Kick the Can isn't scary but it is one of the best

The Will Mummy episode is about the most frightening

there is an episode with a very young Elizabeth Montgomery and Charles Bronson that has a poignant story about the aftermath of total war

Also, the one about the bomb shelter and the faked nuclear attack is a devestating comment on relations with our neighbors and how stress reveals our true selves

My favorite are the episode with the puppet that comes to life and the one with ron howard, who plays the character of the kid that can send thing to the "corn field" using his mind. This one is my favorite. Sorry that i dont know the names of the episodes.

The episode where the guy switches places with his dummy scared the bejesus out of me. I have a thing about puppets.

The one with the huge bees hoovering outside a person's house. Makes me jittery just thinking about it.
