Pagans - Are you in the Broom Closet?
Are you in the Broom Closet? Why or why not?

I am when it comes to my parents and those who know them well. I'm not quite ready to let them know that I've chosen a different path, and I don't want my parents to feel as if I'm being disrespectful to them somehow.
Several people from my school, including my fiance, know about it though.

You don't need to announce your religion to the world. There is no need to go around with 'Wiccan' written on your forehead anymore than a Christian would to feel proud of yourself. Wearing your goddess symbol is just like a Christian wearing a cross and most people won't notice or won't know what it is anyway. I have told a few people about my religion of choice; mostly close friends and family. At work, I keep it behind scenes but I've also had people ask me about my religion with mixed results. Most are curious, which I'm fine with and I'm usually willing to answer questions. There was a time when I ended up having to log a complaint because one co-worker recognized the pentagram charm on my bracelet and began to hound me. Religious bigotry is a big hot spot for companies today. If you have problems, let your bosses know. But, I think you need not worry. You are not hiding in shame but being respectful of others around you. You don't need to print off t-shirts to be proud of being Wiccan, just live your life as you see fit.

Other than on the net, I'm so deep in the broom closet that I don't even know where the door is. I'm sure there is one, I just can't see it.
I'm in a very religious (Baptist) family and I live in a small southern town. 'Nuff said.
Blessed be.

No I'm open about my religion.
I'm in the UK though. It seems that in parts of the USA being a Pagan is less acceptable than it is here.

Yes I am, I'm thinking of another holiday or belief for Christianity to steal and claim as their own.
If I'm lucky it'll be another day that is a paid vacation!

I grew up with polytheist beliefs and never thought to hide it. Anyone who knows me well enough knows that. Anyone who doesn't know me well enough doesn't need to know. This has never been an issue for me.
