Something that should be in a new immigration bill?

The best solution:

All illegals who are minors are granted amnesty (it is their parents who are the criminals, the child is innocent). The parents should get temporary visas until the child is 18, then they would have to leave.

All illegals over 18 will have a date on which to either return to their country or face consequences. If they return to their country on their own before this date without deportation, they can get in line and apply to come back. Anyone caught here after the date will be punished by being deported and not allowed a return.

Since this will get rid of most of the illegals, the line for the LEGALS will speed up extremely and we will get legal, law abiding, skilled and loyal immigrants who WANT to be here. The illegals will have time to save up money to get back home so that we won't have to spend any money on deporting. The date will also be given to all businesses employing illegals and they will have time to get replacement employees hired.

Update:

Good idea (first answer)

also good idea, but then taxpayers would have to pay for atorneys (second answer)

Third answer: don't need to catch them, they would have a date and would not be able to be hired anywhere after that date. If they are caught here after that date, they would have consequenses like work release. Where they would have to spend time in jail and only out to work, yet all their income goes to IRS for credit to the taxpayers for them being here all these years.

Update 2:

Sorry, if you were brought here as a child and are over 18, as of the date, you would have to go back and apply correctly and wait in line. A person over 18 is responsible for theirselves and the parents are not longer at fault for you or anything you do. If you know you are illegal, you can't blame your parents once you are 18, because all you have to do is make things right for yourself and not make excuses. We all go through that with many circumstances and it is time to grow up at age 18 and quit blaming your parents.

Here is all that is needed in a comprehensive immigration bill:

Every member of Congress and the Executive Branch will receive a lifetime jail sentence without chance of parole if the borders are not secure or if we fail to not prosecute and ban for life any illegal alien caught on American soil. All assets held by illegal aliens aprehended in America and businesses that employ illegal aliens will be confiscated. This bill goes in effect in 30 days.

You can fit this bill on a post it note. Get er done Bush.

Does anyone realize how difficult it is to deport someone with no criminal history or hasn't already disobeyed a deportation order. Most illegal immigrants are real good at hiding themselves from the man even when actual work places are raided. Due to their unbridled sense of entitlement, these people will generally ignore any related law that is not in their perceived best interest.

It costs an average of $15,000 annually to educate these children of illegal immigrants. The ROI is tiny due to high dropout rates caused by many factors including discipline problems, language barriers, and their culture which doesn't generally value education. There are a few exceptions - the leading brain surgeon in the U.S. is (was) an illegal Mexican iimmigrant Should we keep paying over $135 billion annually in social costs to obtain a few contributors to society?

I think the best method is to deport all we can as fast as we can while developing private education centers and other facilities in Mexico where the cost of providing services is a small fraction of what it costs in the U.S. How many people can be educated in Mexico for the at least $15,000 expense for each illegal minor in the U.S. Maybe this proposal, if implemented, would shame Mexico - the 5th largest economy in the world per capita - into doing something for the common people.

I could write tomes on the pervasive corruption in Mexico but I won't.

Did you idiots know that CROSSING THE BORDER WITHOUT PAPERS IS ONLY A MISSDEMENOR. So technically they are not Crimminals. Deport all racist to SAUDIA ARABIA. Lets deport all illegals and have all the lazy americans work, then we could raise all wages and all prices of every thing that is produced by exploited immigrants. Hell why not pay $5 for 1G milk, $8 lb of tomatoes, hell lets pay $12 for nice cheap underwear, how keeping all the old workers that are set to retire, until their 80's since they work so much harder than anyone, lets put the black ppl in the fields and bring back the whole slave issue, lets cut a huge percentage of our workforce out and replace them the next day with eager americans wanting to work for close to nothing, lets import most of our goods from china and asia since manufacturing jobs are leaving, lets import all our fruits and vegetables from Mexico and Central America, lets deport them back to MEXICO, then close the factory and move it to Mexico and hire them back so we can exploit them even more. All you idiots should take a humanities class, and an economy class and then propose your stupid mindless fixes.

Okay, but why a temp visa? Why not send everyone home and the child can return, alone at 18 years of age if they so choose.

The ONLY solution is to enforce our laws so stringently that they self-deport! They have the option of leaving their anchor babies or taking them...Repeal the 14th amendment...then our problem with anchor babies will have a limit!

Allow all illegals to sue any employer who does not at least pay federal minimum wage.
