I am going to give you a list of some of the great BBQ spots around town that I enjoy. I will present them in no particular order and will try to provide a brief overview of each locations specialties.

    * The Green Mesquite - Good all-around bbq for any occasion. They have especially good brisket.

    * Rudy's - It is a Texas chain and is known for its smoked turkey, chopped beef, and of course, the sauce.

    * Ben's Long Branch - This is a classic East Austin experience. Great ribs and brisket.

    * Artz Rib House - The name says it all. Get the large order of their country style ribs.

    * Iron Works BBQ - Good all-around bbq and their specialty is beef ribs.

    * The Salt Lick - While their bbq may not be the best in Texas, their family-style dining atmosphere is something everyone needs to experience. It is well worth it for you and some friends to load up a cooler full of beer, head down south, and feast for a couple of hours.

    * Uncle Billy's Brew and Cue - This is a new place that not only serves bbq but also makes home brew. I have yet to visit myself, but several of my friends tried it and liked it.

    I hope this helps!

Honestly, I like Rudy's the best. Yes, I know it's a chain. But they have consistently high-quality meat. I love the smoked turkey and the pork ribs. The brisket is always good, no matter what cut you order. The sides are the perfect compliment, in my opinion, because I prefer a sweet, creamy coleslaw. The beans are peppery and rich with brisket trimmings. Rudy's also has my favorite sauce - not overly sweet or vinegary, a good semi-thick consistency, and spicy with black pepper rather than cayenne. It's not to my taste, but a lot of my friends and family like the creamed corn at Rudy's, too.

I've eaten at many, many BBQ places around central Texas and always seem to come back to Rudy's.

Hands down-PokEJo's BBQ. Their BBQ is great, sauce is wonderful (not too sweet, not too hot-not thin/runny or too thick) and sides are FANTASTIC!! I highly recommend the fried okra and the baked potato casserole! They have 4 locations in Austin. Check them out!
