Why does Al Gore spew these lies about global warming?

http://preview.tinyurl.com/2kb252

Gore claims that Himalayan glaciers are shrinking and global warming is to blame. Yet the September 2006 issue of the American Meteorological Society's Journal of Climate reported, "Glaciers are growing in the Himalayan Mountains, confounding global warming alarmists who recently claimed the glaciers were shrinking and that global warming was to blame."

I believe he definitely has money invested in this new fake carbon economy that they are trying to push and in various "green" industries that will bring him a tidy profit. Plus, look at the publicity and money he has made off of his movie.

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16920923/

He has been nominated for the world peace prize from this too, that was in his plan all along, to come out from under the shadow of playing second fiddle to Clinton. It lines him up well for another run at the presidency if he wants it.

The "carbon footprint" thing just makes me either feel like puking or laughing. ALL life on earth is based on carbon - how are you going to reduce it??? If you killed you self for the sake of the planet to reduce your carbon footprint and were cremated - guess what would be left - carbon!!

These people who believe that crap make me sick and I am a vegetarian and drive a car that gets over 30 mpg - but I'm a conservative- so I must be wrong. Even though my IQ is double their's.

Don't let them fool you, their "facts" and "truths" are false.

It's all about money - follow the money.

Al Gore was always a misguided environmentalist. Not that environmentalists are all misguided (caring for the Earth is important). He just chooses radical ideas to throw himself behind, then use whatever fake information he can find to justify his crazy ideas.

When Gore was actually running for President, it was theorized by those in his inner circle that some of the changes he would make would be things such as forcing people to stop driving cars (institute rationing for hours of driving per week per person). He was and is a pretty messed up individual.

Unfortunately, man driven climate change has become a political movement. Al jumps on board, Hollywood rewards him for it (I mean really...it was as much a documentary as anything Michael Moore creates) and he's driving this very dangerous political idea.

I just saw Mr. Misinformation today on NBC and it's frightening. He honestly believes that climate change will mean the end of the world and all civilization very soon unless we do something about it. There are pleanty of facts out there to disprove Al Gore.

The worst thing about Gore and most global warming backers is the arrogance. They believe that we puny humans have such a drastic effect on the world and that we can also completely change the global climate through incredibly drastic changes in our lifestyles. Nothing could be further from the truth. The latest gas blamed in the myth of global warming has been CO2. Did you know that total CO2 in the atmosphere (natural and unnatural) is at most .01% of gases. Did you also know that increased CO2 means more plant life flourishes? Did you also know that CO2 changes across the world the same amount, but temperature changes have varied widely (with many places actually cooling over the last 100 years)?

The radical environmentalists are usually after an organization or money. The budget for studying global climate change has ballooned more than 2000% over the last 5 years - I'm sure the scientists who benefit from that are going to be slow to criticize the source of their income (i.e. if there is no global warming crisis, there is no money). In the past, environmentalists were agitated by the pro-beef industry (they wanted everyone to be a vegetarian). So they campaigned against methane as a huge greenhouse gas that was killing the environment (and of course, cows produce lots of methane). This idea had to eventually be junked because they found that the methane was actually being taken care of pretty nicely by our wonderful planet with no issue (OOPS). Now, the environmentalists are attacking the industries behind fossil fuels. And they're doing it by finding a common gas in all fossil fuel energy production and claiming it hurts us. CO2 is good for the environment and actually is produced more by higher temperatures - not the other way around. Gore missed this little cause and effect relationship.

Hmm. I followed the link you gav e to the article you cite. I noticed the writer was a member of the "Heartland Institute". I googled them, and went to their website. Very anti global warming, but hey, that in and of itself is their right.

But a little more digging found a veeery intersting facts.

    1. Walter F. Buchholtz, an ExxonMobil executive, serves as Heartland's Government Relations Advisor, according to Heartland's 2005 IRS Form 990, pg. 15.

    2. Heartland Institute has received $791,500 from ExxonMobil since 1998

Hmmm. No conflict of interest there, now is there?

    ==Edit==

I also find it amusing that people are saying he is in it to make money, while completely ignoring the obvious fact that oil companies are already making billions, and have long term interests in the trillions of dollars. I'm not saying they are evil, but if money is supposedly behind all this, and we are supposed to follow the money, then a reasonable person MUST look at who has the biggest stakes in it already. The oil companies.

The second CEI ad, "Glaciers," claimed that scientific studies have proven that "Greenland's glaciers are growing" and that the "Antarctic ice sheet is getting thicker, not thinner." But as the weblog Think Progress noted, the Greenland study found increased snow accumulation only on the island's interior, while separate studies conducted during the same period found significant melting among the coastal glaciers. Further, the lead author of the study on Antarctica issued a public statement accusing CEI of a "deliberate effort to confuse and mislead the public about the global warming debate." According to the statement, "Growth of the ice sheet was only noted on the interior of the ice sheet and did not include coastal areas. Coastal areas are known to be losing mass, and these losses could offset or even outweigh the gains in the interior areas. ... The fact that the interior ice sheet is growing is a predicted consequence of global climate warming."

He's fanatical. Not to mention a hypocrite.

Man-made global warming is a joke. There is no such thing and people like al gore simply use the issue to drum up support for like minded politicians. The earth warms and it cools. The exhaust from our cars and factories has such a minimal impact on climate change it can hardly be measured.

I cannot remember the exact number but the top scientists on global warming said that if we ceased all man made carbon emission it would have a 0.0007 degree effect on the natural climate change over the next 100 years. Yeah Al gore...lets destroy our economy so we can prevent a 0.0007 degree change. What a joke that guy is. I can't believe he was our Vice President.

Global warming is not a lie, even if Al Gore did get a fact wrong. 99% of the scientific community agrees that this is a real issue. They are not the ones claiming that it is false, and they are the ones that I beleive.

Kawaii nailed it . Go sista. Aloha. You can not compete with good research and solid evidence. Take my hat off to ya.

SO, no I do not believe he is spewing lies. Now that his is no longer a Clinton puppet.
