I've never been on it myself, but I've heard it can take a really long time to get your period back. My sister was on it briefly, but she had the opposite problem and never stopped having a period.

With being on Depo-Provera I have heard that it can take up to three years to have a normal cycle. I would talk with the doctor about the cramping and everything just to make sure that you are okay. But I have been on Depo and so has my mother. She had the really bad cramps and everything but she was okay after a little while. I would talk to the doctor and see what they say.

I was on it for about 2 years and hated it! I gained about 10-15 lbs while I was on it, which isn't that much but I was constantly feeling hungry and had to force myself not to eat all the time. I had mood swings like crazy and even suffered from depression while I was on it. I had no energy, and my period completely went away. I got off of it back in Sept. and got the IUD and since then my period has came back, I've lost weight, and I just feel so much better. Of course, every woman isn't going to have the same experiences but that's just how it was with me.

Your body is just not back to normal with its ovulation and regulating. It can take a few more months longer. It only took me about 3 months to have a normal period and 6 months later I got pregnant.
